Today we got the honor of interviewing Kenzi (Dobby's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Nelson: I was inspired to start sharing Dobby just out of pure obsession with him. He was the cutest little addition to our family and now that we have grown a following, I love sharing our favorite brands with others.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Nelson: I'd say his constant sticky lip is one of his best trade marks.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Nelson: Coming up with ideas is definitely the hardest part. Dobby is naturally funny with his quirks but it’s hard to always capture and display those. That’s why I love when brands send us packages because it helps us know what to post about.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Nelson: Yes. I think social media is packed full of negative comments and bringing people down. But I try not to let it bother me. It’s definitely hard. The good thing is I think the good outweighs the bad. There’s always going to be people who try to discourage you but I think it’s best to just keep growing and show them how great other people think your account is.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Nelson: The best advice is to try to post a reel almost every day. That will definitely grow your account the fastest. Also commenting and supporting other dog accounts will lead to comments and support on yours.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Nelson: He has definitely helped me be more active and enjoy being outside. Even when it’s cold out I think some fresh air is good for the soul. And I wouldn’t be walking outside as much if it weren’t for Dobby.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Nelson: Recently I took Dobby to a huge but fenced dog park. But it is practically a ginormous open field. We were walking along with other vizslas and all of a sudden I couldn’t find Dobby. I frantically looked around and couldn’t see him anywhere close. Then I yelled and yelled his name for a few minutes and then after a while, I see him running full speed clear from the other side of the park. He couldn’t find me so he ran all the way back to the beginning looking for me. It was scary but he was so worried about me it was also sweet and funny!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Nelson: Favorite thing would definitely be the brand collaborations and being able to support small businesses.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Nelson: Nothing huge and exciting. We do hope to keep growing our account. We have a New Year’s resolution of hitting 30k followers or more by the end of the year.
