Today we got the honor of interviewing Kaitlyn (Andy's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Wallner: Andy is my first dog. I always said when I had my own pet I would share him all over social media. So I posted my first picture of him after we met him at 4 weeks old. The rest is history!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Wallner: Andy is unique because he is a purebred yorkie with floppy ears. Though it is common, most people don't think he is a yorkie! I think our followers also love that we incorporate our love for Disney and our faith on our page!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Wallner: It's not always easy! We enjoy sharing our adventures with Andy, as well as products and friends we love on our page. If we can be authentic with our posts and others can see that, we've done our job.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Wallner: Yes, growing our page has absolutely been a challenge. We've been running it for 4 years and Instagram can be at a standstill at times. We often battle with how we can grow without sacrificing our authenticity. We have also received backlash that Andy is not a true yorkie.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Wallner: To just have fun! Even if your account doesn't reach as many people as you desire, the friendships you will make in the pet community are priceless.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Wallner: Andy has shown me the importance of loving others for who they truly are. Andy is very independent, and sometimes I have wished he would be more clingy and cuddly. But that makes him who he is, and I've learned to love and appreciate his personality rather than looking at how it can benefit me only.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Wallner: We did a photoshoot for a brand in Dumbo Queens. During a break, I put Andy in a fur coat to take my own pictures and a crowd of people came by to take his picture. We felt like a celebrity for a few minutes.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Wallner: The friendships I've made. Through Andy's page, I've met lifelong friends who have been some of the most supportive people in my life. We've taken our friendship in person, and it's a gift I would never trade.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Wallner: We are always looking for new projects and companies that align with things we enjoy. We hope to continue to grow our following and see where it takes us!
