Today we got the honor of interviewing Reagan (Bailey's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Collyer: I saw people like tuckerbudzyn making videos of their golden retriever eating and it was super cute and it made me want a golden retriever very badly. I started doing research on the breed and got Bailey as a birthday gift from my parents. The very next day I created him an Instagram account because I had one for my other dog (Ellie the gsd) and I thought Bailey was one of the cutest puppies I’ve ever seen and I wanted to share his cuteness with the world. Almost a year later I created him a TikTok for the same reason. My accounts are still growing but I’m proud to be where I am today and I wouldn’t be here without Bailey.

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Collyer: Usually you see only show goldens on social media (their golden with longer fur) Bailey is field bred (darker with shorter fur) which I think makes him different from the other dogs you see on social media. I want to eventually hunt with him and make videos about that because I don’t see very many accounts about hunting.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Collyer: I see other people post training videos about their dogs and take inspiration from them but put my own twist on them. For example, I’ve seen lots of people do “get ready with me to go to wherever” with their dogs so I took something I did every day and started making videos about it. (Mine was get ready with me to go to my great grandma’s house) I posted my last one a few days after Valentine’s day because I couldn’t continue the series as my grandma had passed the month before.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Collyer: I have not had any negativity yet, but I believe I will someday as a lot of people are critical in the dog community.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Collyer: Personally for me, joining was really fun when I found the right part of the community I was interested in. There are quite a few different categories, sporting, show, dog health nutritionist, etc.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Collyer: My dog has had such a positive impact on my life outside of social media! She's my best friend and always brings so much joy and love. We go on walks together, play fetch, and cuddle up on the couch. Having her around has made me more active, responsible, and overall happier. She's like a ray of sunshine in my life!

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Collyer: When we had gotten back from Thanksgiving, my dog somehow found an empty beer can on the floor and started chewing on it. I took a picture and sent it to my uncle and he thought it was as funny as I did so I shared it on Instagram.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Collyer: Spending as much time with my dogs as I can.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Collyer: I plan to take him to lots of empty parks in the future to let him have some off-leash time since he’s almost perfected his recall. I’m really proud of him and love to share it with other people on the internet.
