Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Karim: I started CeeDee's Instagram as an outlet during the pandemic. It was a great way to connect with others, I never thought it would grow. We started off with a few hundred followers but have grown to 23K over the last few years. CeeDee is a very sassy dog and I love sharing his awesome personality online. We got Kyler 1.5 years ago and it's been fun watching them together. I work a full-time job but I love sharing their content. We mostly just post photos and silly reels but we do work with a few brands that we love. I look to others for guidance on what they love for their pets so I try to share what we love with our followers.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Karim: Our corgis are so silly and fun. CeeDee is like an old man who is wise beyond his years, he always has this "all-knowing" look in his eyes. He is smart and sassy and seems to always know what's going on. Kyler is the derpy little brother who is so silly and has no idea what is happening. Their dynamic together is incredible and so fun to share. They are always really, really cute but all dogs are cute :)
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Karim: I think about what I would want to see on social media and try to mimic that content. Right now, I have been working on shifting content from "cute photos and videos" to more lifestyle content. I am an active 32-year old who works a full-time job with two dogs and a partner. I want to highlight our life and what we do... what products we love, our adventures out and about, balancing work and home, etc. I have been planning this out for the last several weeks and will start transitioning my content soon. I love content that really highlights my dogs' personalities and silliness. I write notes in my phone for ideas. I try to always work with what my dogs are doing versus attempting to force something. I want to be true to us and be natural.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Karim: Of course! People are mean sometimes. Thankfully we don't see much but I just ignore it. If it's offensive, I block it. If you are getting on Instagram just to harass a corgi account page, you need some help.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Karim: Be true to yourself and your dog. Is your dog super silly? Lean into that. Does your dog do a really cool or unique trick? Put that in your content. Don't force your dog to fit some trend that will last for 5 days. Be true to who you are and people who connect will follow and stay.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Karim: When we got CeeDee in 2020, I had just been laid off work and going through a tough time. Both CeeDee and Kyler have brought so much joy into my life. If I'm having a bad day, we can snuggle or go on a long walk. They are so energetic and affectionate.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Karim: CeeDee does not like to do what you want when filming so it's always an adventure with him. We do these college football pick 'em videos where we set up a treat for two teams and the dogs have to pick a treat/team. One day, CeeDee decided he didn't want to give Kyler his turn and he grabbed the plate we set the treat on with his mouth and hid it under the bed! Another time he sat on the plate until I gave him another treat.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Karim: Sharing my two dogs with the world! We have made so many friends online from social media. We even traveled to another state to visit one of our online corgi friends! It's so fun to connect with others who love corgis/dogs as much as we do.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Karim: I'm working on new lifestyle content that I am hoping to launch by May. I want to shift focus to our lives with two dogs. Content about work/life balance with pets, travel, dog-friendly places around Houston & Texas, pet care, outdoor activities, and training.
