Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Martella: I started Cypress's Instagram as a way to document her life journey. Initially, we posted less frequently and mainly posted photos. When I began posting reels, I instantly fell in love with how creative you can be. I love making videos with Cypress because I can capture her personality. We started gaining a bit of a following as I posted more frequently (once to twice a day).
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Martella: When you watch our videos, you can see what Cypress is genuinely like. I am very methodical with my posts; I like to follow trends but put my own spin on them. We've often been told that Cypress reminds people of their dogs or that they can relate to our content. I am also very open on Instagram, which has led me to make a genuine connection with our followers, or what I like to call them, our friends.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Martella: I always look for new trending sounds and build my ideas from them. I spend my weekend gathering video inspiration and scrolling through the Explorer page- this is where I get much of my inspiration. On those days, I will create many posts and bank them in my drafts, so I have content to post. Most of the time, I will second-guess my posts and make something new on the spot to post instead, but if I am struggling with being creative, my drafts come in handy.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Martella: The thing I have been struggling with the most is keeping up with the trends. There is SO much content being produced every single, and trends are very short-lived. It can be overwhelming, and when I feel overwhelmed, I will log off for a while and be present. Also, I have learned that it is okay to take a day off and that my world will not be ruined! No, but seriously, while Instagram favors those who post more frequently, realizing there is much more to life than social media is crucial to keeping a healthy balance. While I would not trade in the experiences and opportunities my social media has given me, I also recognize that I must set healthy boundaries to enjoy what I do.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Martella: Have fun, and use this opportunity to be creative. Post often and engage with your audience! The more authentic you are, the quicker you can build your community!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Martella: Outside of social media, Cypress is still very much my whole world. She motivates me to do better for myself and enjoy the moment! Not a day goes by that she does not make me laugh. She has shown me what true love and loyalty look like!
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Martella: There is not one specific moment, but my favorite thing Cypress does is when we get to the field, she finds the biggest giant stick she can fit her mouth around and will run around at full speed. We joke that she's trying to take our knees out! It's honestly so funny to watch.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Martella: I love connecting with like-minded people from all over the world! I have made great friends that I would have never met if it were not for social media! Additionally, I appreciate being able to work with our favorite brands!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Martella: I want to continue creating high-quality content, being able to work with my favorite brands, and building a bigger community. I have a vision board of goals I want to accomplish in 5 years, and I firmly believe that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it! I do not want to share too much yet, but stuff is in the works!
