Today we got the honor of interviewing Ashley (Moose's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
DePew: Originally I just wanted a place to share the millions of pictures I took of my puppy every day. When Moose's account started gaining followers, it became exciting and fun to follow trends and start working with businesses, big and small! At the end of the day, Moose is my sunshine, and I'm so happy I can share that sunshine with the world through Moose's social media content.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
DePew: Moose is unique because he has really "big feelings," as we call them. He's very emotional and expressive, and I think that comes through in the content we post! Moose is very intelligent and definitely has his own thoughts and preferences. His happy place is anywhere outside - and because of this, we're always posting adventure content! Some adventures are bigger than others, like getting kissed by the ocean for the very first time; others are just little daily outings that bring us serotonin boosts :)
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
DePew: Moose actually drives my creative process - his moods and expressions come through in his content so well, that our content is mostly driven by him! Sometimes he's ecstatic, sometimes sleepy, sometimes sassy, it depends on the day. Sometimes we do follow reel trends, which are always fun to create! But most of the time, it's just Moose being Moose.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
DePew: I'm lucky enough to not have faced any challenges or negativity thus far, but I'm very aware that the internet can be full of negativity at times. My best advice for anyone dealing with negativity online is to just keep being yourself and doing the things you love!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
DePew: Just go for it! Authenticity is best; really capturing your dog's personality and moods is much better than trying to portray the "perfect" pet.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
DePew: Moose is the light of my life. He's my best friend! Taking care of Moose keeps me active and on a schedule. But really, he just brings so much happiness to everyone around him. He's truly such a sweet soul.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
DePew: Moose is incredibly intelligent, and with that intelligence comes curiosity. He's always learning. One of my absolute favorite memories of him is the weekend I brought him home, he sat in my backyard in the grass, looking at the trees, the sky, the birds, and the squirrels, and really just took it all in. He didn't move a muscle - he was just one with nature. Watching him learn and peacefully observe the world is my favorite thing.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
DePew: Being able to share the happiness Moose brings with so many people!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
DePew: As summer is sprouting in the Midwest, Moose and I have a lot of outdoor adventures planned! Our content will largely shift from indoor settings to nature-based adventures and outside content.
