Today we got the honor of interviewing Rachel (Easton's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer?

Kolek: I made Easton’s Instagram page before having a “dog insta” was really a thing. Almost 8 years ago, there were no reels and TikTok’s, simply pictures and a cute caption. I thought that I was just going to be a safe way for me to save pictures of my new pup and share them with family and friends. I had no real intention of “going viral” or building such a following.

What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Kolek: Easton is not a “bells and whistles” kind of dog. He’s not going to wear cute hats or cooperate with a Halloween costume. What you see on our page is real life, candid pictures taken with a plain iPhone 14. I have zero photography skills and no experience with digital creating… so you’re just getting simple pictures of a cute dog who makes us all smile!

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media?

Kolek: Every once in awhile, a friend will send some suggestions or mention something that may be cute… but for the most part, Easton’s page is very candid and random.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Kolek: It is hard to believe that people would post hateful or negative comments on a DOG’s Instagram page… but they do. The world is full of bitter people who hide behind their screens; however, we choose not to engage with that type of behavior. Any negativity on our page will be removed and blocked rather than responded to.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Kolek: I am probably not the best to give advice because we didn’t really plan this, but early on… we photographed EVERYTHING! We also started adding a bunch of hashtags to our posts so that we would appear in a bunch of different search categories. If you are good with clips and captioning things.. reels and YouTube posts are the way go to!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Kolek: Easton has been a blessing to our whole family. He brings so much joy and excitement (and even stress when he gets sick!) to our everyday life. I truly believe that dogs enhance a family and everyone should experience that type of unwavering love.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Kolek: Easton is a big fan of swimming and dock diving. On one of our swimming trips, we accidentally crashed a photographers work, as they were taking pictures of a local park for the park’s website. Thankfully, they are dog lovers and then took the opportunity to photograph Easton’s diving adventures.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Kolek: I love seeing people from other parts of the world comment on Easton’s page. I use google translate to read through each comment and am always surprised how far his reach is!

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Kolek: One day I will learn how to caption videos and make cute clips/tiktoks. For now, I use other people’s templates and follow their lead. I’ll get there one day!

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Kolek: I made Easton’s Instagram page before having a “dog insta” was really a thing. Almost 8 years ago, there were no reels and TikTok’s, simply pictures and a cute caption. I thought that I was just going to be a safe way for me to save pictures of my new pup and share them with family and friends. I had no real intention of “going viral” or building such a following.
