Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Malilay: It started when I got Esmé and my adult children encouraged me to start an account for her on Instagram since she would be the newest baby in the house and my children didn’t live with us anymore.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Malilay: I think what can set us apart from other accounts is I really just try to stick with our true real life and post about things I like. I also feel like I am older than most the other dog moms on instagram.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Malilay: I have no creative process on content! I just usually take a photo. Sometimes they will be specific to promoting a company. Sometimes I tell our friends what we might be up to for the day or weekend. I try to be engaging with other accounts.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Malilay: We luckily haven’t had to face any kind of negativity on social media! We find the dog world of Instagram a very positive and supportive space.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Malilay: My advise would be to just dive into it and just let it flow. Don’t have high expectations for yourself. We really just started our account for fun but have loved getting to work with some great companies as the years have passed!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Malilay: Yes in that I’ve gotten to try some new things and experienced some new products that I may not have gotten to before. I’ve also met people in real life that I have met through social media.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Malilay: I try not to take photos when there’s a lot of other people around but one day this woman came behind me as I was taking a photo of the girls and asked if I wanted her to take a photo of the three of us which I thought was really nice!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Malilay: I love interacting with our friends in our account!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Malilay: We don’t have any plans or projects in the works at this time :)
