Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Katie: Originally, it was a place to share ALL the photos and then it turned into an actual page. It’s definitely been fun watching it grow to what it’s become.

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Katie: He definitely poses for photos which makes it fun to create content on social media.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Katie: We go to new places and show the range of pet-friendly options around the area! I like to use the national day calendar to get ideas for content. But generally, my ideas come from the adventures we go on.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Katie: Thankfully, I have not received hate messages from social media. If I were to receive hate messages, I would try to understand where they’re coming from but I wouldn’t let it get to me. Unless it was something I was actually doing wrong, then I would work towards fixing the issues. We have faced the challenge with the algorithm and figuring out what works for posting.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Katie: Post what you want to post… well, as long as it’s appropriate! And don’t overthink it (I overthink it and sometimes make it more complicated than it should be). Social media should be a fun environment to share your stories so definitely have fun with it!

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Katie: We have visited so many new places because of him. If it weren’t for Finnley, I definitely wouldn’t have gone out of my way to go to the new places. We also go on so many walks/hikes too. I am a happier person with him around!

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Katie: Recently we went to a brewery and I was setting him up to take his picture, and all the tables surrounding us got quiet. Everyone watched as I set him in his spot and had him pose with the beer. They quietly whispered and thought he was going to drink it, but I had him trained to sit for photos. Once we were done with photos, I gave him his treats and set him down. Everyone clapped and they were surprised by how it went, which always brings me joy.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Katie: The community! I have met so many cool people through social media.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Katie: I would love to work with bigger companies on projects! But otherwise just keep having fun with it and do what we do best :)
