Today we got the honor of interviewing Rebecca (Gaara's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Li:Gaara is a goofy ball of energy since he was a puppy. I wanted to document his growth for memories and share my learning journey as a first-time dog mom. He inspires me to create wholesome, authentic, and relatable content.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Li:There are A LOT of golden doodles on social media, but at the end of the day there is only one smedium-sized golden doodle named Gaara... that knows how to toss faux flower petals down the aisle as a flower boy. I hope our current and future followers enjoy watching him learn new tricks and that he brings joy to their feed :)
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Li: No specific creative process, sometimes it can be an audio or trending video that inspires me to capture my version with Gaara. Most of the time, I capture a lot of mundane moments with Gaara and if it can be edited into a reel/video then I'll make one.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Li: I once posted a story of Gaara running with a leash and gentle leader on. Afterward, I got a respectful DM explaining why that might not be a good idea. I also asked for some leash recommendations, and they were helpful in providing some. They weren't forcing their idea onto me and not pointing out my ignorance in a degrading way. Which is why I appreciated that interaction wholeheartedly because I like being a part of a community to learn and improve as a first-time pet parent.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Li: Do it!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Li: He is my whole world.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Li: Our first mini photoshoot was at a pet expo event. I was honestly a little worried if he would go crazy, or run away and not listen to any commands once his leash was off. In the end, of course, that didn't happen, turns out he loves the camera and can WERK IT. Now I'm obsessed with pet photoshoot opportunities.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Li: I'm just being me... and sometimes I get more treats when the tripod or phone camera comes out ;)
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Li: We are up for any opportunity that aligns with our values!
