Today we got the honor of interviewing Yvonne (Boone's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Hayes: We had found Boone’s litter in February 2020, and when it was time to pick him up, it was peak Covid. We decided to start his Instagram as we were with him 24/7 and we had to share his cute face and goofy personality via social media.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Hayes: Boone has such a fun personality. He is a AKC Champion and has great success in the show ring, yet he is so goofy, and such a derp. He loves to retrieve anything and everything, living up to his retriever lifestyle.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Hayes: He makes it easy to create content of him. Between his funny personality, to his loving and attentive/velcro dog personality. It’s easy to share our day to day with him.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Hayes: Of course we have. There are always going to be people who want to be negative or be mean. I don’t let it bother me, because 99% of our interactions are so supportive and kind. We get so many incredible messages from people who love Boone and say they bring a smile to their face, and that’s what it’s all about for us.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Hayes: Just go for it! Whether you have 100 followers or 100,000 followers, just enjoy the process. Don’t compare yourself to other accounts. Create content that you are proud of and you’ll have fun with it.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Hayes: Boone just brings us so much joy every single day. No matter what life brings us, good or bad, he is there for us and we are so grateful he is ours!
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Hayes: One of the first times we took him out and about as a puppy, we were at an outdoor venue where there were tons of people sitting in the grass and relaxing. There was a group that were lying in the grass with their shoes off, and Boone ran up to them and stole a pair of socks. It was such a cute moment and the people loved it.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Hayes: The friends we’ve made through it. And it truly makes me so happy to know that people all over the world love Boone and that he brings a smile to their face.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Hayes: Boone is about to be a big brother, as I’m due with our first baby in early 2024. We can’t wait to see him as a big bro and watch them grow up together. It will be so special.
