Today we got the honor of interviewing Sydney (Mosey's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Flynn: Mosey has always had a very interesting/entertaining personality. The result of that is me taking a million pictures & videos. I mainly took these videos to send to my fiancé & mom lol. One day I decided to start posting some of these videos & pictures on her social media & the rest is pretty much history! I love that so many people can relate to her posts! I’m so thankful that I made that choice to start her socials as I’ve met such great people in the dog influencer world!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Flynn: I think it’s mainly that we’re far from perfect (although I like to think Mosey is 100% perfect). So many people seem to relate to real life content in the dog world. Mosey’s so goofy & mischievous, it makes for a good laugh.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Flynn: Most of the time it seems that Mosey decides for me. A lot of my content is just a video I took of her doing something silly (or bad) & those always seem to do the best. I try to make sure I’m in a few of her tiktoks here & there but the people really only care to see Mosey lol. In all honesty, the structured & planned content that I take with mosey doesn’t do nearly as well as the spontaneous content I get from her!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Flynn: I think there is some negativity from people just for the idea of my dog having social media pages in general. Which is fine, I know it’s a little bit silly but that’s kind of why I do it. Her accounts are light hearted & entertaining so I know the concept is pretty silly. I try to not give any attention to any negativity received, it really doesn’t bother me (as long as they’re not being mean to Mosey lol).
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Flynn: Post everything, even if you think it’s stupid or not great quality, post it. You never know what will take off! Don’t be afraid of people judging you, share the cute videos & pictures of your dog unapologetically! Be patient, sometimes it takes awhile to get things rolling but it’s so worth it!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Flynn: Mosey is my soul dog. I got her when I was 21 years old & going through some tough times. She’s one of the biggest reasons I got through those times. Mosey is such a constant in my life, I know my girly is always there for me. She’s made it so I never feel alone, and I’m so thankful for that.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Flynn: There was this one time recently where I was filming a tiktok with Mosey that involved her having flour on her face (I know it sounds goofy lol), anyway I got pretty carried away with it & ended up with flour literally all over Mosey, my kitchen, & myself. My fiancé came home & could really only shake his head & laugh at the mess. I really didn’t have any explanation & spent the rest of the evening trying to clean the kitchen & wash mosey. I would’ve really loved to know what was going through Mosey’s head during this whole event lol.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Flynn: The community for sure. It’s so nice meeting people who relate to you so much! I also love being able to show off Mosey to the world because she deserves it lol.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Flynn: We’re always working on something new. Now that the weather is getting nice we have a lot of little adventures planned. I’d love to take Mosey swimming, she’s never been swimming & being that she’s a Golden Retriever I think she would love it.
