Today we got the honor of interviewing Kailynn (Henderson's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Pelletier: I wanted people to see that owning a dog is a lot of work but has so much reward! You can also have fun and create memories with them and include them on your adventures and travels.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Pelletier: I think what sets him apart is exactly what doesn't if that makes sense haha. He is a normal dog with a normal dog owner. He misbehaves and behaves and gets brought on adventures and gets trained and has his zoomies.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Pelletier: Henderson is like my child so I spend almost the entire day with him so it's easy to find something within a 24-hour period! However, if nothing is really going on, we always have our daily walks that I'm able to fall back on, as well as dog mom things like "in's and out's of 2024" or dog toys I recommend that I have lying around. I also have my entire phone storage of photos and videos that I can pull from dating all the way back to when he was a puppy. I try not to think about it too much as I want my content to be relatable.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Pelletier: Not so far!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Pelletier: Do it!! I found that it has pushed me to go out and explore and adventure or teach him a new trick, which helped us create this unbreakable very special bond.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Pelletier: Entirely! I work hybrid so he doesn't have to be home alone most days, I travel differently now because he is not able to go on flights because of his breed. I try to find dog-friendly activities to do with friends and family to involve Henderson.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Pelletier: When I get home from work, I take him for a walk right away and normally feed him his dinner on the walk and use it as training. However, this one day I forgot his food on the counter and so the walk was treat/food-free. When we got home he clearly knew he was about to be fed and got so excited that he started spinning in circles having a zoomie attack for a good 2 min in my condo parkade, which caught the attention of MANY neighbors. And he was not stopping for anyone, I just had to ride out his zoomie wave.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Pelletier: Being able to watch back on all the fun times we've had together and his profession and growth as well as mine as a dog mom.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Pelletier: I would love to partner with a Canadian owned dog company to help promote their products, as well as some travel options to show that traveling with your dog can be fun and very rewarding.
