Today we got the honor of interviewing Crystal (Pancake's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Collier: Growing up I always wanted a Golden Retriever. Pancake was my first Golden and I knew I wanted to take him everywhere with me. We had so much fun together and I knew I wanted to share our adventures, whether that be paddle boarding, surfing, skating, or traveling cross country.

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Collier: Pancake is so adventurous and even surprises me sometimes with what he does. He jumps head-first into everything I expose him to including dock diving, lure coursing, kayaking, and ice skating. He always does everything with the goofiest smile and the quirkiest personality. A lot of our viral videos are just Pancake being himself. He loves interacting with other animals and always gives the most surprising interactions that I feel people really connect with.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Collier: I just film Pancake's everyday life and fill up my phone with all the silly things he does. I get the most genuine reactions out of him since I am always filming him when we go out on adventures. The videos that do best are the ones where Pancake is just being himself.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Collier: I think anyone who goes viral on social media can agree that there will always be people who only see negative things about what you post. But I always feel secure knowing Pancake is happy, healthy, and just loves spending time with me. No one who looks at our social media can say that Pancake lives a boring life.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Collier: Share what makes your dog special and show off their personalities. If your dog has a cool quirk that you find funny, I'm sure a lot of people would love to see that too! It's important to catch the moments where your dog is being genuine and having fun.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Collier: I have met so many people in the dog community through Pancake. We all love our pets and that brings us together. I have made so many amazing friends through social media.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Collier: Pancake met Winter from the Dolphin Tales movies for a pet-friendly photoshoot at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The genuine connection Pancake and Winter had interacting with each other is one of my most cherished memories. They really connected in such a special way.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Collier: Pancake and I have had so many cool experiences we would not have had if not for social media. We were invited by Toyota on their first-ever dog influencer trip in St. Augustine. It was all-inclusive, including a rental car, a dog-friendly beach hotel, and fun tours around the city. I just love being able to do new things with my best friend.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Collier: We have a really fun cross-country trip planned where we plan to visit some sand dunes. I can't wait to share our new adventures together!
