Today we got the honor of interviewing his Momager (and Roku's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Momager: I was making videos of Roku as a puppy to share with family and it was my daughter's suggestion to start an Instagram account for him. I had no idea what Instagram was about so in 2020 she helped create his profile name and was my first follower. She encouraged me to post photos of Roku and said "Try to get 20 followers Mom." I was so excited when we reached 20 and then she said now try to get to 50. Fast forward to today and we're now at 125k+!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Momager: His infectious personality and fashion pup style make him very special. He adores people, loves traveling and is the most affectionate little pup. He brings so much joy to everyone who follows him!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Momager: Roku loves to pose and can be very expressive so it's easy to create content. I try to create stories, posts, and reels that our followers will resonate with or enjoy. My ideas come from exploring trending audio and seeing what might work well.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Momager: We rarely encounter negativity but when we do, I will usually delete and block without engaging in the conversation. It's important for us to keep our community positive.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Momager: Think about what makes your dog special and how you would showcase that. Create a bio and profile feed that immediately shows someone what you're about. Take high quality photos and videos and post your best ones. Grow organically through storytelling and learn from other dog accounts you aspire to. Be consistent, be patient, and most importantly, enjoy the journey with your pup!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Momager: His cute little face and his big eyes that we get to wake up to is a gift we're thankful for every day. He brings smiles everywhere he goes, and we feel so lucky to call him ours. It's so true that a dog is man's best friend.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Momager: There are so many memorable moments when I'm doing a photo shoot but the best ones are when he tilts his head whenever I ask him if he wants to go to the pet store or does he want to chase a pine cone.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Momager: My favorite thing is knowing that my dog brings smiles across the world and truly touches people. That is the best influence you can ask for.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Momager: We have a lot of travel plans this year and can't wait to share more of his adventures. We hope to continue to grow, work with more brands, meet new friends, and spread more joy!
