Today we got the honor of interviewing Rebecca (Kenai & Koda's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Callahan: I first made our Instagram to have a safe place to keep all the photos and videos of Kenai. The brand Jeep eventually reached out to us to ask for permission to post Kenai on their Instagram page, from there he gained his first 500 followers. It has just been a hobby of mine to share Kenai’s life on social media. This past year we added Koda to our pack and have just continued to share their life online!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Callahan: I think the boys' personalities really set them apart from other dogs on social media. I believe how I advocate for Koda’s anxiety and reactivity really draws people to our page.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Callahan: Sometimes we get inspiration from what is trending online, other times we just make it up as we go.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
" Callahan: We have just learned to ignore and block the negative people on social media. At the end of the day, running Kenai and Koda’s account is a fun hobby and we aren’t here for any negativity or hate.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Callahan: Go for it! It is so rewarding to see all the love and happiness Kenai and Koda bring to people online!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Callahan: Being huskies they are an extremely active breed, they definitely keep me on my toes and help me maintain a healthy active lifestyle. They bring me so much joy and happiness, the best things to ever happen to me!
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Callahan: It’s always a fun time trying to get the boys to pose with each other. Koda loves to instigate his brother by nipping at him in some way to initiate a wrestling session during picture time.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Callahan: Getting to connect with all different types of dogs from around the world! It's so amazing to see different cultures and lifestyles that other dog influencers live.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Callahan: I would love to eventually grow our following and maybe someday start my own brand.
