Today we got the honor of interviewing Patricia (Kuma's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Santos: It all started when me and my husband saw his first picture. We ere expecting a Black & Tan Shiba Inu but then Kuma was born and of course we couldn´t say no. He is a Sesame Shiba Inu which the is the rarest color and his coat is just so beautiful we wanted to share with the world. After a week or two after him being home we decided to create an Instagram since besides being a handsome puppy he is also so funny, expressive and stuborn!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Santos: To start there aren't lots of Shiba Inu's on Instagram and there are even fewer Sesame Shibas so I think that really makes him stand out. Everyones is so intrigued by his looks, we gets called Husky puppy, fox, wolf, etc. He also has a great personality and patience with his humans (with all the pics and videos), I just think he loves being with us no matter what we're doing.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Santos: Not really, of course we try to plan some of the content but Kuma's Instagram is mainly to show his day to day life. We also have some partneships which require some thought behind the posts and keep them in mind.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Santos: Gladly, not much! However on social media we have to deal with all kinds of people and sometimes it can be hard. We just ignore it and try not to escalate things unnecessarily. Our man goal is to have fun and share positive things!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Santos: Just to have fun and don't take things too serious. Share things that you like and then take it from there! I think that in order to grow and actually have a good base of followers is to be real and take your time.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Santos: Kuma has completely changed our lifes. He is just the sweetest dog ever, loves to be around us, cuddle, go for walks in the nature and get all the attention! We work from home so he is a great companion, loves to play and make us go outside more often. We try to take him everywhere we can and you can truly see his happy face when we do so. He's honestly the best dog anyone could ask for.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Santos: Every photo shoot with him is just too funny, it seems he knows that we are trying to get some good pictures and he just makes this weird faces, sits like a frog, does gremlin ears and doesn't even look at the camera. But he is so cute that we still manage to take some good pictures.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Santos: The community we are building. We have found lots of good friends and followers tha have showed so much love and support since the begining which was a really nice surprise as we were not expecting it.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Santos: Yes, we have lots of exciting plans! One of them would be to travel more with Kuma and to meet some of his furriends. Invest more time on other social media platforms, create more cute and fun content and be present for Kuma.
