Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Bissi:Zeus has been breaking hearts since day 1. He has changed my life and he’s my best friend and best travel buddy I could ask for. I’ve had his Instagram since the day I got him and for me it has always been a way for me to keep mementos and a photo album of him. More recently I’ve become more active with his account, sharing his experiences and providing tips to others along the way. He’s grown exponentially since December and is now gaining 100s of followers in a matter of weeks. Zeus has a tremendous amount of self confidence for a 7lb pup. He’s funny and outspoken. He loves learning new tricks, kids and meeting new people. Zeus was the inspiration of creating the @southfloridayorkies meetup group and also the inspiration for my new business, Discover Fun Life LLC. Our business is dog birthday parties, product reviews and finding pet friendly adventure spots. I am adventurous in nature and Zeus has made a great addition to my life. Our journey as a dog influencer has just begun and our message is to encourage you to always be yourself. We believe in helping local businesses, supporting others and collaborating when we can. Zeus is very adorable and is always getting stopped anywhere we go. We want to share the cuteness and pawsitive vibes however we can. He even has his own blog where you see life from his point of view. In his blog, he recaps his times traveling by plane, a weekend at grandpa’s or a delicious treat he’s tried. There’s a lot more to come from Zeus in 2024. He was even promoted to CEO of our business. No matter what though, we will continue to have fun, enjoy each other and continue to have adventures and build memories and hopefully inspire others to follow their hearts and dreams!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Bissi:Zeus has fantastic ears and it’s what most people compliment him on. Next are his devilish good looks, which, let’s be honest, lets him get away with lots of things. He’s a heartbreaker and very charming. Loves to give kisses! I think that we have an artistic point of view and we try to think outside the box to engage interest in our content. It helps that Zeus loves treats and is a performer at heart. He’s a very good boy. In the end, we do everything with love and positive vibes in the hopes of bringing a smile to everyone’s face.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Bissi: While it certainly helps to have a photogenic dog, I try to have fun with it. I grew up with a mom as an artist and a father involved in music, so art has always been part of my life. I think I just see things from a different perspective. I also enjoy creating jewelry and painting. When taking photos or videos I try to focus on his attributes that make him special and I include those in any creative process. I just have fun with it and take my time. The music also has to match the vibe of what I’m trying to accomplish. It’s certainly a process but we have enjoyed creating and building his content.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Bissi: We have not encountered any negativity on social media up to this point. I think to handle that is to always be true to yourself, your vision and your morals/ethics. There will always be negativity but there’s also a way to stay positive throughout. Block out negative energy when you can and continue on your goals. Some challenges we have encountered is when I put something together that I absolutely love and there’s not many likes etc that come after posting. But again, if it’s done with love and your true self and YOU liked it then that’s what matters most.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Bissi: Have fun with it! Do it for you and your dog. Do it as a way to remember all the special moments. BE YOU!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Bissi: Zeus is the most special pup. He’s inspired me to create a meetup group for him, start our business, be a better person and keeps me positive.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Bissi: Zeus makes me laugh all the time! He’s silly and loves socks. I’d say my most favorite memory is the day I held him in my arms for the first time. I had no idea that it would be so life changing. Most recently we went to St. Augustine for my birthday. We explored and experienced the nights of lights together. It was just puptastic.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Bissi:Our favorite thing about being a dog influencer is to make people smile, share puppy tips/products. Ultimately I think it grows our bond and makes us feel closer.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Bissi: YES! As I’ve mentioned, we started our business not too long ago and we are hoping that it becomes a full time gig. We offer a rentable teepee tent for dog parties! We have party planning packages for dog birthday parties and events. Our Instagram is @discoverfunlife and we have big dreams! We are available and open for business.
