Today we got the honor of interviewing Krystle (Ozzy & Rocky's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Plata: My boyfriend & I just wanted to make an Instagram to share our dogs' pictures & our adventures together. We started by posting pictures, then we started posting reels & we would get comments that our videos would make people laugh, smile, & make their day & that really makes us happy. So, we started posting more reels. We never thought our following would grow so fast, but it did & we are so thankful for that. We love sharing videos & pictures of our huskies.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Plata: With Rocky, I get a lot of comments or dm's saying they've never seen a mostly black husky or a husky with parti eyes. Everyone falls in love with his eyes, they're so unique. I feel like people also fall in love with Ozzy's personality in videos, seeing his big smile, his love stares, his side eyes, & of course, his funny faces he makes when he's definitely judging us.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Plata: We mostly don't plan on how any pictures or videos would go. We're just in the moment enjoying our time with Ozzy & Rocky. But there are times when we know something funny is going to happen that we know will make someone else laugh & that's when we would record.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Plata: We have gotten negative comments before & we would reply to them, but there weren't a lot & we haven't gotten any negative comments in a while.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Plata: Don't compare your profile to others who may have a large following, find out what you want your account to be about & stay consistent. Just go for it with a positive mindset. Every account is different in a good way :)
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Plata: The boys have definitely taught us a lot of lessons! Patience, unconditional love, to never give up, & take life slow. We always say that we wish boys could meet all of their followers because they're a gift from god & we know they would make everyone feel loved, they would become your best friend in seconds.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Plata: This memory will always be the first to come up when I think of our outdoor adventures, because it's something I never thought would happen to Ozzy. While we were taking pictures of Rocky, I looked up to check on Ozzy and saw him sticking his face in a log. My boyfriend called him over, Ozzy listened, but the started shaking his head and salivating. My heart was racing and we were so concerned. We then started to smell an awful smell.. and that is when we realized that he just got sprayed by a skunk! We quickly left home and started looking up remedies to safety get the smell off of him. We had to o isolated him from Rocky since they always played together and we didn’t want Rocky to pick up the smell as well. Surprisingly, the smell did go away within 2 days!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Plata: The community & our followers! We have met amazing people that have became friends to us, & our followers are so sweet. We absolutely love interacting with them.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Plata: We have something in mind that we want to try to do, but we won't say anything yet. Other than that, we're just going with the flow & we're hoping to make more people laugh & smile in 2024.
