Today we got the honor of interviewing Micaela (Nico's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Fernández: Nico came into our lives in 2020, just a week before the quarantine began due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Confined at home to protect ourselves, we looked for new forms of entertainment. From the first moment, Nico captivated us with his charisma, his photogenicity, and his inexhaustible energy. With classes going virtual, I had a lot of free time, so I decided to create his own profile on Instagram. I wanted to share Nico's photos with the world and narrate our experiences together, on a journey full of lessons and special moments. We hoped to connect with people who identified with our story and found inspiration in it.

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Fernández: Nico stands out from the others for his unique tenderness, capable of captivating with just one look. His bravery and boundless love are qualities that I will never stop praising. Besides being an exceptional companion, Nico shines as a model, looking adorable in any outfit and even without one.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Fernández: My creative process typically begins by checking current trends and brainstorming potential related content. Then, I decide on which video to create and prepare the script, dividing it into scenes that I'll film with Nico. After filming, I proceed with editing. Before posting the video, I research trending hashtags. An example of our work includes a video inspired by the Barbie movie, where Nico plays Ken and sings the song "I'm Just Ken". It was one of the most enjoyable videos to film.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Fernández: Fortunately, since Nico started on social media, he hasn't received hate or negative comments as such. Just a few curious people asking about what happened to his little eye. But that's a story we don't mind sharing, as it basically happened when another dog scratched him while they were playing, all of this under his previous owner. We met Nico just like that, and we believe that's what makes him unique.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Fernández: My advice to someone wanting to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media would be to first ensure that your dog is comfortable with being in the spotlight. Then, focus on creating engaging and authentic content that showcases your dog's personality and unique traits. Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of posts and engage with your audience regularly. Also, always prioritize your dog's well-being and happiness over popularity or likes.

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Fernández: Nico has had a profound impact on my life outside of social media. Beyond the photos and videos shared online, my dog has been a constant source of comfort and joy in my daily life. His unwavering love and companionship have taught me valuable lessons about patience, responsibility, and unconditional love. Through their presence, I've learned to appreciate the simple moments and to prioritize the well-being of those I care about. Overall, my dog has enriched my life in countless ways, making each day brighter and more fulfilling.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Fernández: A memorable moment with Nico was when we took him for his first walk after adopting him. We discovered he had a peculiar way of peeing: he did it standing on two legs, like a true acrobat! Now, every time we see him do it, it makes us laugh a lot.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Fernández: What I enjoy most about being the mother of a dog influencer is all the love he receives daily. We receive several messages and comments praising his beauty and sweetness, which we relay to him to make him feel very loved. Additionally, we're thrilled when we're invited to events and he's recognized. On special occasions like his birthday, we receive gifts from friendly brands and plenty of love through social media. Everyone is touched by Nico; he may not speak with words, but his eyes say it all.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Fernández: Among our future plans for social media is to keep creating entertaining content that can make many people laugh. We also aim to collaborate with brands and continue attending events. Additionally, we want to embark on new adventures together, traveling to different places and sharing it all on our social media platforms.
