Today we got the honor of interviewing Erin (Obi's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Wieselman: We started Obi’s Instagram to share his growth and journey with friends and family. His adorable and goofy personality captured everyone’s attention, so they kept asking for more! As we started sharing more of his adventures, we started gaining friends along the way. We have been having so much fun capturing his funny moments and love seeing other people’s reactions to him too!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Wieselman: Besides his little legs and adorable smile, Obi’s name caught a lot of people’s attention. We enjoy playing off of his name and dressing him up like the character! We have connected with several Star Wars fans through his name alone. He also really knows how to smile for the camera and his quirky habits make for a funny video!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Wieselman: We pretend Obi has his own little voice and give him silly narratives about the things he’s doing. They make us laugh and give us ideas for funny voiceovers to go with his videos. We capture just about every Obi moment and our camera roll is full of 1,000s of pictures and videos. When we find a cute sound or trend we go through our pictures and edit them to the sounds or songs.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Wieselman: Overall, we have made a lot of really great friends and connections with other dog lovers and parents. Some people have come along trying to give us advice on how they think we should raise and care for Obi, but ultimately we are the ones who know him best.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Wieselman: Capture all the funny, adorable, and silly moments that your pet already does! Whole photo shoots and scripted videos are fun, It is so much easier to put out content of Obi’s real life.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Wieselman: Obi has taught me how to love unconditionally. No matter what happens in the day, Obi is always there with his tail wagging. He is the cuddliest, most loyal dog I have ever owned and my best friend.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Wieselman: We made a video of Obi sitting at the dining room table eating at the table. Ever since that video, he has learned how to climb into the chair and eat things off the table. We never thought such a little dog could take things off the table like that!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Wieselman: Meeting other dog parents and dog lovers!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Wieselman: We are working on a very exciting new project! We can’t share anything yet, but we think people will like it. Stay tuned to find out what it is!
