Today we got the honor of interviewing Rebecca (Oscar's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Saliba: I lost my previous Cavapoo puppy at just 6 months old in a very traumatic way and realized I had very few pictures or videos to remember him by. So when I got Oscar, I wanted to document every moment and share his infectious joy with others!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Saliba: What sets Oscar apart on social media is his boundless joy and playful personality. He has a way of making every moment special, and I think our followers love seeing the world through his curious eyes. Plus, his goofy antics always bring a smile to everyone's face!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Saliba: Coming up with ideas for Oscar's posts is all about capturing his everyday moments and letting his personality shine. There's no specific creative process; I just follow his lead and share the joy he brings into our lives. Whether it's a funny face he makes or something he got into, I love sharing those little bits of happiness with our followers!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Saliba: I’ve been very fortunate not to have experienced this myself, though many of my Instagram friends have, and my heart goes out to them. From the beginning, I’ve made it clear on my account that I’m here to share pure joy and happiness!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Saliba: Keep your expectations low, stay true to yourself, and if it stops bringing you joy, it's okay to let it go.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Saliba: He has truly brightened each day with his presence. After the heartbreak of losing my previous puppy, I went through some very dark times. Oscar has taught me to cherish the small moments, embrace spontaneity, and find joy in the simplest things. He is my entire world!
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Saliba: Absolutely! Basically any time I try to take footage of him being off lead in our yard, he takes off for our neighbor's house. The other day I tried getting a cute video, he took off like a bandit, and ran right for the neighbor's front door and pawed at it to be let in!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Saliba: The connections I have made. I have met so many wonderful dog obsessed moms just like me and it's been so amazing and inspiring!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Saliba: I have a few! We recently became ambassadors for Wagwear and I am so excited for Oscar to receive his first pair. I already am picturing the hilarious reel I will make of him trying to walk in them.
