Today we got the honor of interviewing Rachel (Kilo's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Dinkeldein: We started our socials to store photos and funny videos of Kilo instead of taking up all the space on our phones - but that quickly turned into building relationships with our followers and brands. Kilo struggles with reactivity which can be hard to manage living in one of the most dog-friendly cities in America. We found that there is a whole community of reactive dog owners, husky owners, and people that are invested in dog training, traveling, and adventure just like us!

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Dinkeldein: What sets us apart is our authenticity. We have grown organically by simply sharing our daily life and our weekend adventures. We give honest opinions about products and brands we work with but we also share our successes and challenges in dog training and reactivity.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Dinkeldein: Sometimes we do have a mental block and we need to take a few days off socials to remember why we started our account & then we remember that we are just sharing our lives! Our daily life is content our followers enjoy as well, so we try to make it easy and not overthink our content.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Dinkeldein: Unfortunately, we have. When you put yourself out on social media you expect engagement but that sometimes come in the form of negativity. We gladly welcome conversations on differences of opinions but only if they are friendly and respectful.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Dinkeldein: Make it fun! If it isn't fun you won't keep up with it and it will feel like a job. Connect with influencers whose content you enjoy and make a connection with them and ask for advice!

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Dinkeldein: It sounds silly to say, but Kilo is like our child. We do not have plans to have any human children so this allows us to focus on Kilo and providing him the best life. He has helped us grow our confidence in dog training and helped us meet people we never would have.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Dinkeldein: We can't think of a particular moment but, 'live' photos are our best friend because Kilo ALWAYS has to give a howl for the first few photos before we get a good one.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Dinkeldein: Our favorite thing about being an influencer is connecting with our followers and meeting new people & their dogs!

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Dinkeldein: We just recently attending the Global Pet Expo and made some great connections with brands we hope to be working with in the future! We also recently launched our website in February. We have a blog we post weekly so we are working on some cool content for that too!
