Today we got the honor of interviewing Mia (Maple & Fabio's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Elms: I was in my early 20’s, my family had all recently moved abroad and Fabio, who was our family dog, was left with me. I soon grew a really great bond with this little dude. We then decided to get him a BFF- Maple, this is when our Instagram started. I wanted to document Maple & Fabio’s friendship & it soon became my favourite hobby.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Elms: Our two dogs are complete opposites, so I think we have a wide range audience. We like to think that we make relatable content for other dog mad people.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Elms: Whenever I think of an idea at any point of the day, I write it down in my notes. I also like to see what audios are trending at the time.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Elms: We’re fortunate enough to not have encountered any negativity on our socials.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Elms: Don’t take it too seriously. The more relaxed & genuine you are with your posts, the more you will grow and enjoy posting!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Elms: They’re literally my best friends. If I could take them everywhere with me, I would! They have helped me de-stress after a long day at work.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Elms: When my now husband proposed to me, we were on a beach in Norfolk. He got down on one knee, took the ring out of his pocket and Maple jumped up on him and knocked it out of his hand. It was hilarious!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Elms: The amazing community on Instagram & working with some great brands.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Elms: We have a couple of really exciting collaborations coming up.
