Today we got the honor of interviewing Isabel (Rory's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Lane: We really started this on a whim! After I brought Rory home, my social media began pushing dog-related content covering so many topics. Watching other creators go through experiences similar to what Rory and I were going through made the puppy-raising process feel more approachable and less lonely. After a while, I wanted to connect more with this community, so I started creating short videos to share our adventures!

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Lane: Rory is a young, highly active dog! She is unique because she is not the traditional dog people think of when it comes to our adventures around training and dog sports. Despite not fitting the typical image, she is thriving in her adventures, especially in her agility training! I believe sharing her journey through these activities is something interesting for her followers to follow along with.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Lane: All of our content draws directly from our real-life adventures. We don't plan our lives around creating content; instead, I aim to capture our adventures as they happen. Whether it's during training classes, hikes, playdates, or just everyday life at home, we always have an abundance of content. After capturing footage and pictures, I usually spend some time going through it all, brainstorming what I want to highlight, and then proceed to create and schedule it.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Lane: We're really fortunate that everyone has been incredibly supportive and kind to us! There is so much for me to learn about social media, dogs, and the dog influencer community, which contains a wealth of knowledge. People have been incredibly kind in answering my questions and reaching out to keep me better informed. It's a wonderful community to grow and learn within!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Lane: Be yourself and stay consistent! We're all just people who are obsessed with our dogs, so don't put tons of pressure on yourself if your content doesn't look like what others are creating. People will resonate with you if you're authentic!

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Lane: Rory changed my life for the better! Having a dog is a significant shake-up in life, and for me, Rory has helped establish a routine, increased my exercise, and made me a better advocate for both her and myself!

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Lane: One of our most memorable adventures so far was when Rory earned her first dog sport title in FastCAT (a timed 100-yard dash) last year! Despite being relatively new to the sport, Rory was ecstatic to participate, and each of her runs set a new personal record (PR)! I'm still incredibly proud of her, and I can't wait for our FastCAT season this year!

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Lane: The best part is definitely just getting to spend time with Rory and have fun! She’s an awesome dog, and I am lucky to have her.

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Lane: We have so many goals and plans for the upcoming year!! Our primary goal is to participate in our first agility trial by the end of the year! Additionally, we're planning a small international trip that will provide us with plenty of new places and things to explore!
