Today we got the honor of interviewing Fabiana (Rosinha's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Duarte: Rosinha's Instagram started with a joke. I used to show my friends and family various photos I'd taken of Rosinha and they'd tell me that she seemed to "pose" for the photos, and in fact she's always had a strong aptitude (patience for me) for taking photos, so I decided to create the Instagram page. I never thought I'd have as many followers as I do today.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Duarte: What makes Rosinha unique are the various characteristics she has, starting with her size, her beauty (she's a very pretty dog with a very well-groomed coat), the expressions she makes in each photo she takes, the way she takes the photos and, of course, her closet and accessories (bows, sunglasses, hats). All this together makes Rosinha unique and arouses a lot of interest in people, both on social media and on the street when we go for a walk.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Duarte: Every week I try to do at least three posts and every day I do several storys to share what Rosinha is up to. I usually organize myself according to the trends, the partnerships that Rosinha announces but, above all, I want to show how Rosinha really is, her personality and that really captures people's attention. Rosinha has a rather peculiar personality, she doesn't like socializing with other dogs, she likes to have her own routines and she's vain (laughs), so I try to create content that reflects that and sometimes with a bit of irony. Let's say I've created a "persona" that reflects Rosinha's personality well (if she could talk)
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Duarte: I once created a reel in which I put Rosinha inside the washing machine (as a joke) and then opened the machine and she appeared showered and hairstyled. I began to receive a lot of negative feedback about this content and to lose followers, I realized that it hadn't been well interpreted, so I decided to remove it. I didn't intend to convey a negative message with it, on the contrary.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Duarte: I think the best advice I can give you is that when you create a social media account for your dog, the main objective has to be to have fun, your dog won't always want to take pictures or make funny videos when you want them to, and that's normal. I think it's important to show what makes your pet unique and if that message is conveyed well, people will like to follow you and want to know more about your pet. Anything else is a bonus, but the main thing is to have fun and be happy with your pet!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Duarte: Rosinha came into my life before the Covid19 pandemic, in 2019, I was very lucky, she kept me company at home and distracted me a lot from everything that was going on. Nowadays her company is therapy, she's always with me because I work remotely, we play a lot, we love going for walks. Rosinha positively influences the lives of everyone she meets on a daily basis. I've seen people change their behavior towards dogs because of Rosinha, for example people who were afraid of dogs (ok she's small) but she's very docile and melts the coldest heart.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Duarte: There was once a photo shoot for a brand in which Rosinha was supposed to take a picture next to two other dogs and she chose to keep a safe distance. The other two dogs didn't pose a threat, not even close, but Rosinha always chooses to have a safe distance (she even does this with her sister and mother who live at my parents' house). So the photos are funny, there are the two dogs and Rosinha at a safe distance from them.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Duarte: The best thing about being a dog influencer is being able to share Rosinha's fun day-to-day life with other people and feeling that there are people who follow us who like her as much as I do. It means a lot to me when people come up to us in the street because they want to meet Rosinha and say they're fans of hers. Another very positive point is being able to help people look at animals differently, stop seeing them as "things" and start seeing them as "living beings" who deserve to be treated well and have rights. It's great to be able to contribute to changing mentalities.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Duarte: Yes, we have lots of plans. We recently launched a Rosinha brand "Soy Rosinha" and we plan to launch the first collection later this month. I haven't yet revealed what it's all about, but I can tell you that it's essentially made with Rosinha's fans in mind. We want to be able to share with them the great affection we have for her and "eternalize" her in a way. Alongside this project, we plan to continue sharing Rosinha's day-to-day life and keep growing on Instagram, TikTok, and Threads!
