Today we got the honor of interviewing Mya (Sadie's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Mya: After seeing Sadie make biscuits (knead) for the first few times we realized we had never seen a dog do that before. We had even reached out to a friend who works at a vet clinic and she had never seen that before either. So we decided to share Sadie’s adorable special talent with the world in hopes to make people smile
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Mya: We believe that Sadie’s biscuit making is what sets her apart from most other dog accounts. She has such a big personality as well that really shines through her videos.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Mya: There’s a few different things that we do. We work and play with Sadie every single day and sometimes videos/ideas stem from our everyday activities. Otherwise we brainstorm each night on different ideas that we’d like to show. Sadie determines when she makes biscuits (usually when she is relaxed with her favorite stuff sheep) so we record that when she does it. Lastly, we do watch some trends and if we feel like we want to join in we do!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Mya: Of course! I don’t know anyone that hasn’t. We just know that there will always be people in the world that you can’t please and as long as we’re having fun and making good lighthearted content we take it with a grain of salt and move on.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Mya: The best advice we can give is be persistent and never give up. Sometimes videos take off and other times they don’t, and that is just part of it and that doesn’t mean that your content isn’t good. Most importantly, keep it fun for you and the dog. Ideas, content, etc. all seem to be better when you’re having fun! Otherwise post frequently, interact with followers and other accounts, and experiment with fun audios on reels!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Mya: Sadie gives us so much joy and something to look forward to everyday. Once we get home from work, we get to take her out to play, go on walks, and just go experience the outdoors together. She’s family and always has been. Her account is just a way that we can share some of the joy she has given us with the rest of the world.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Mya: Our first Christmas together is where this all began. We got her last March 2023, and when she was a little puppy I got her this sheep to sleep with. That was her favorite toy until one day it ripped and we had to get rid of it. I was only able to find one more in the store, so we saved it for Christmas (about 7 - 8months). We saved this gift for last, and once we opened it with her she instantly grabbed it and ran to her bed and started kneading since she was so happy. This was the first time she ever kneaded and she continues to do it with this special sheep.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Mya: Our favorite thing about being a dog influencer is getting to share Sadie’s joy with the world. In addition, we have made so many friends through her account and we love reading the comments, replying, and interacting with other accounts.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Mya: Everyday is a new adventure with Sadie and we will continue to try to create new and exciting content. Hopefully we will continue to grow her account while creating new lasting memories with our dog.
