Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Macachor: I was inspired to share Scarlett on social media initially as a way to share photos of her with family. I naturally am taking many photos and videos of our daily life and loved sharing our life with family. I quickly became very fond of the social media dog community. It was very uplifting and special to connect with other people who loved their dog as much as I do!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Macachor: Scarlett is by far the sweetest and most goofy girl there is. I think her silly personality shines on social media. I do make an effort to showcase our bond. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for Scarlett. She entered my life at a time where I was struggling and she healed my heart beyond measure. I hope that when I showcase our bond it is relatable to others who are lucky enough to share life with their soul dog.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Macachor: Scarlett is the creative one behind her social media. She is fearless and will try anything, it’s been fun capturing many ‘firsts’ for Scarlett. Her first time at the beach, first time swimming, first time paddling boarding and first time seeing snow. These are all moments I capture regardless of whether they will be shared on social media. I just make an effort to capture the fun adventures, the simple moments and the love we share.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Macachor: Social media is an outlet for anyone to share their thoughts and opinions, good or bad! I have an encountered a few negative comments, most of which accuse me of being too obsessed with my dog. I have to be honest, something like that doesn’t exactly feel like an insult! :)
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Macachor: The advice I would share is be ready to be pleasantly surprised by the positivity and love amongst the social media dog community. It is truly heart-warming to witness the love people share for their dogs and how it bonds us together as well. If you’re like me, and your dog is your bestie then you’ll love simply sharing the fun you have together.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Macachor: It’s indescribable how Scarlett has changed my life. We had a golden retriever prior to Scarlett, his name was Winston. He was the best boy and journeyed through my entire 20s with me. Every monumental achievement in my life, Winston was a part of. He was a part of college graduation, getting engaged, he was in our wedding and he moved across the country to start a new life with us. After the loss of Winston I was fearful on whether I could ever be a dog mom again. I was beyond grateful for every moment I shared with Winston but the pain of losing him was an indescribable heartbreak. It was my husbands’ idea to heal my heart with bringing Scarlett into our lives. Let me tell you, it was one of the times where I can say “honey you were right!” I often say that Scarlett kept me so busy when she was a puppy that I just didn’t have time to cry anymore. Scarlett has healed my heart beyond measure. She has taught me to appreciate simple aspects of life. I learned the hardest lesson with Winston that unfortunately our dogs do not life the duration of our lives with us, I truly cherish every single day with Scarlett.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Macachor: Scarlett has a hilarious personality. She has us laughing all the time. Although I like to think of her as being athletic she can be quite clumsy too. I’ll always remember one of the first times I took her paddle boarding and she slipped into the water. Unfortunately for her the water is cold and she did not like that! The look she gave me like she was literally saying “MOM what the heck!” so I pull her back onto the board and this girl is so grateful she turns around and gives me a big hug. People from the shore were watching the whole thing and said “awww”. Another moment of Scarlett being so silly and so sweet!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Macachor: My favorite thing about being a dog influencer is the real life dog friends that Scarlett has made. Which led to new friendships for us too!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Macachor: We intend to continue to travel everywhere we can with Scarlett. I look forward to showcasing more “firsts” for Scarlett as we continue to do dog-friendly traveling.
