Today we got the honor of interviewing Sandy (Santi Blue's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Sotelo: I lost my 2 dogs 1 month apart in 2022. I knew I needed another pitbull in my life. I wanted to document everything with Santi because memories is what keeps our fur babies alive after they are gone. I want Santi to be a pitbull/ bully breed advocate to show people how lovable they are and that they are not scary. I am also a content creator so I wanted to have fun and show the world how adorable Santi is. My goal is to brighten peoples day and get people to all in love with this breed.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Sotelo: Santi is a true bundle of joy with a personality as vibrant as the city he calls home. What sets him apart is not just his striking gray-brown coat and captivating blue eyes, but his infectious enthusiasm for life. His floppy ears and adorable outfits add to his charm, but it's his friendly demeanor and love for the camera that truly make him shine. Living in the heart of Chicago, Santi brings a piece of urban charm to his posts, showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of city life through his adventures. In a world filled with countless cute dogs on social media, Santi's unique blend of charm, style, and undeniable friendliness make him a standout star.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Sotelo: I find trending audios and capture natural, genuine moments with Santi and see what fits. I also scroll through IG to see what is trending. I share parts of his life like getting his first pup cup, his first Easter and capture what its like being a bully breed owner.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Sotelo: Thankfully, not yet but I am sure we will eventually. I plan to hear what people have to say and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Santi and I will stay in our lane and keep spreading happiness and joy.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Sotelo: Make it genuine and be consistent. I love creating content for Santi because I love him so much and love sharing him with the world. I truly look forward to it and post it because I enjoy it. Do it because you genuinely want to send a message and share your doggy with the world.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Sotelo: My dog pulled me out of my depression. I am an entrepreneur that suffers with anxiety and panic attacks. Having Santi has made my anxiety subside. I rarely wake up sad or stressed. He has just brightened up my life so much and has given me purpose. I love caring for him, playing with him and watching him grow. He truly changed my life.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Sotelo: I was recording a video of him saying he was being naughty so he had to go to his dads house and it's like he understood everything I was saying because he did the cutest pose like a model by crossing his little paws and sitting straight up.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Sotelo: I love meeting pets from all around the world. I love making people smile and engaging with other accounts.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Sotelo: We would love to grow Santi's account and spread awareness about bully breeds. I hope to apply to affiliate programs and start his storefront helping other pets become influencers with the strategies we have used to create content and grow his account. Our main goal is to continue spreading happiness and joy.
