Today we got the honor of interviewing Carissa (Scar's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Tank: We originally started our instagram just to share smiles of the world of service dog training, it soon began to rise in followers and engagement. Recently we have gained a ton of followers and we are just so excited to share the world of scar and how happy he is to be a working dog.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Tank: Scar set others apart by being one of few service dog Aussies. Australian shepherds are not usually used for service dog work. His color and eyes seem to get everyone, and they love to see what he does or new things he learns.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Tank: Honestly I just always take photos and videos of scar and then go through them, unless I have a specific idea for brand advertising. He is trained in commercial work so he’s really fun to shoot videos for.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Tank: Yes, a lot of people comment that he looks messed up because of his eyes, or not giving him treats. We don’t let it bother us and just keep posting what we love!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Tank: Don’t give up! Engage with your followers, comment when they comment, post engaging stories or posts that people can relate to!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Tank: He’s a service dog, he’s a life saver, he truly has influenced my life by always being there.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Tank: One of the best was when we were shooting content he decided to run into mud, right after a bath and completely cover himself.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Tank: Getting to show the world my amazing pup.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Tank: We do have some awesome new content coming! More adventurous and more sporty content!
