Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Noh: I started sharing Solie's adventures on social media mostly because I wanted a scrapbook for the future of all the things we did together! In the beginning, it wasn't really for anyone but us and our friends to see what we were up to. As time went on, more and more people wanted to see more of our adventures and expressed being in similar stages as us. Soon enough, it felt like we were part of a community on social media!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Noh: I think what interests people so much about Solie is that she has such a big personality with lots of sass! She's very stubborn on what she wants to do and very picky about who and what she likes. I think people find this to be entertaining and funny, but also relatable to themselves! I also think that we have been in so many different phases of life now that people have found relatability in us. We started the account when I was in college, and it has seen me through country living, moving to a big city, living alone for the first time, working full-time, and now being in medical school!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Noh: A lot of our story posts are truly what happens in our day to day lives. This ranges from the day's activities to products we are loving to all the ups and downs of daily life! Our posts are usually fun spins on trends or audios that we see trending. Many times, I will save an audio and write down the idea that I have that corresponds with it. We prefer to batch create content as there are days where Solie just doesn't feel like being in front of the camera... and don't we all?
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Noh: We have been lucky in dealing with very little negativity on social media, but I would say we are constantly challenged by the changing algorithms and content that is being pushed by the platform. These are just things I never thought I would worry about, but once you're on social media, it's hard not to start being influenced by them. To deal with the frustration that can sometimes come, I like to remind myself that Solie and I are living our best lives off of social media, and this all began because we just wanted to share what we were doing. When I remind myself of that, the views and likes and insights just don't matter as much. I also try to be very transparent about how I'm feeling, and doing so actually brings about a lot of support and creators who are feeling the same way.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Noh: Figure out what you want out of it! Are you sharing to just share? For views? For collaborations? None of these are wrong answers, but they will guide you in the strategies and content you should post. Also, find something that makes your dog stand apart from every other dog on social media! All dogs are distinct, and you just have to find what makes yours different.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Noh: She has been in my life through the best and worst of it. There are days where she was the reason I got out of bed instead of laying there all day. There are many times I wanted to spend the day being lazy or moping around the house, but she is the one that got me out and about to at least walk in the sun. She has made me better in so many ways, and all of that is outside of social media.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Noh: One time, Solie was laying next to me while I was studying on my computer and being such a calm lap dog which is rare so I immediately whipped out my phone to video the rare occasion. Right when I hit record, she immediately started pawing my hand that was on the keyboard and laid her foot across my entire computer! Obviously the planned content in my head went from best study partner to biggest study distraction!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Noh: My favorite thing is when we have people ask us questions about their own dogs or new puppies! I love feeling that sense of community, even if it is all online.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Noh: Right now, we are loving where we are and finding the love of content creation again. We're posting much more real content rather than trying to follow what the platform is pushing, and we're finding happiness in that!
