Today we got the honor of interviewing Alissa (Sophie's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Danzig: We were inspired to start Sophie’s IG when we started getting stopped everywhere we took her. People told us that she brightened their entire day and put a huge smile on their faces. She was only 1.5 pounds when we got her and has since grown to be a big girl at a whopping 4 pounds! So, we decided one day to start her page and post cute photos of her. Since then, we have been invited to events, Sophie has been on TV, modeled for several brands and met tons of dog friends. Life is hard and if my dog can make someone smile and change their entire day, then we are here for it.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Danzig: Sophie is tiny. She only weighs 4 pounds. BUT, her personality is huge! She is a lover. She loves people and kids and other dogs. She also loves dressing up in cute clothes!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Danzig: My fiancé and I are Reality TV Casting Directors. We cast some of the biggest TV shows out there. We are very creative people and tend to just come up with fun photoshoots and videos for us to incorporate Sophie in. Sophie is so easy going and she is up for anything!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Danzig: We really haven’t faced negativity on social media and I think that’s because we are very positive and only surround ourselves with positive accounts looking to bring joy to others!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Danzig: It takes a lot of time. You need to be patient, engage with other accounts and constantly be putting out new videos and photos. I have a much larger account and sometimes I post Sophie to my account too.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Danzig: My dog changed my life. We take her with us almost everywhere. We are stopped by so many people every day. We’ve made business connections, helped other dog parents with new food suggestions since Sophie looks like a puppy and we believe it’s all related to her food. Just having her with us has opened so many doors for us.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Danzig: There are so many! This past year, we dressed Sophie up as a Target employee for Halloween. We bought her an employee costume from Target and a tiny Target shopping cart. We pushed her around Target and we were swarmed by people. Sophie just chilled in the cart all day. We won photo contests and won Halloween fashion shows all over LA. I will never forget it.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Danzig: Meeting and interacting with people from all walks of life.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Danzig: We want to work with bigger brands and make more content. We are Producers and Editors by trade but to be able to incorporate that into what we love…our dog, is priceless and so much fun!
