Today we got the honor of interviewing Summer (Mister, Missy, Sissy & Barkley's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Millman: I started noticing that my dogs were bringing happiness and smiles to people’s faces wherever we went. People started recognizing us out on walks/hikes, trips to the stores and coffee shops, etc. (it’s not often you see someone with four goldens, and one of each shade at that!) There has been many times that I have been told that I needed to start sharing their lives with the world; we are just getting started with that and can’t wait to see what adventures it brings! :)
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Millman: Having four of them! When people see us online or meet us, they see a dog.. then two, then three, then four! Four times the cuteness. And although unplanned, as my youngest two were rescues/rehomed, the golden rainbow 🌈
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Millman: I am a professional photographer that focuses on lifestyle/candid/storytelling photos. This led me into wanting to document my dogs in the same way, out on adventures.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Millman: I have been told that, “they are just dogs” and that they don’t need the time, effort, money, training, etc. invested. In response to that, I let them know that I enjoy doing those things and it surely doesn’t hurt them!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Millman: We are just getting started with sharing.. so we have lots to learn still!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Millman: Getting out of bed, being active, getting outside.. those things were/can be hard for me! They help me get up, out of bed, and outside many times daily - which I always feel better after doing so!
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Millman: Many moments where my youngest, Sissy, has made us work hard for some photos where they’re all together and looking; as she’s not the best at posing/sitting still. There are so many bloopers in my phone that make me laugh every time. I really should have a post dedicated to her silliness!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Millman: I hope that they bring smiles and happiness to others, as well as meeting other dog lovers with similar interests!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Millman: I look forward to documenting and sharing our every day life and the many adventures to come!
