Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Boissy: Throughout my college years, my love for dogs remained unwavering, yet the absence of a furry companion was deeply felt. It wasn't until my senior year's second semester that I finally made the leap and welcomed a puppy into my life. Carrying her around campus became a routine, and to my surprise, fellow college students were drawn to her irresistible charm. Witnessing the joy she brought to everyone around her was overwhelming. Post-graduation, requests for updates on her growth flooded in, prompting me to create an Instagram account primarily to keep her friends informed about her progress, never intending it to become anything more than that.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Boissy: People are first drawn to our account because of Summer’s extraordinary rusty auburn colored coat. However, I think most of our followers stay because they see the ever growing bond between us. Further they are drawn to her gentle demeanor and the ease with which she learns. Additionally, we are a super friendly, supportive account that loves providing other pet owners with tips and tricks that are not commonly talked about. We adore our ever growing social media family and work hard to share this love as there are never “too many dog pictures”.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Boissy: Our content is focused on bringing a smile to our followers face. We implement our own humorous experiences as well as everyday life events to be as relatable as possible. Animals can provide avenues to wellness and therapy so complex we still don’t fully understand its impact. Our intention is to provide content that is accessible, enjoyable and uplifting!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Boissy: In the dog community, there is a plethora of opinions on dos and don’t when it comes to raising a dog. There have been times when my content invoked negative banter in the comment sections. I learned to acknowledge different opinions and viewpoints. I also realized the importance of not comparing myself to other content creators as their is room for everyone’s individuality.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Boissy: My advice is simple: take the leap. Share that photo or video and enjoy the process. Even if you receive just one like or comment, you've succeeded in brightening someone's day, and that's priceless. Moreover, success doesn't hinge on buying every new product; there are countless ways to create content, so focus on what feels enjoyable and manageable for you. Ultimately, it's not solely about the number of followers but the depth of engagement. I'd prefer 2,000 followers actively involved, with whom I can build a meaningful relationship, over 10,000 followers who remain unaware of our shared story. In my opinion, quality engagement triumphs over sheer quantity.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Boissy: My dog has profoundly influenced my life beyond the realm of social media. Graduating from college marked a pivotal moment in my life, and amidst this significant transition, my dog emerged as an extraordinary influence. Her presence became a grounding force, guiding me through uncertainties with an abundance of patience, unwavering love, and an unexpected companionship that proved to be profoundly transformative. Beyond the textbooks and lectures, she taught me the invaluable lessons of resilience and understanding, offering a level of support that extended far beyond what any social media post could capture. In the quiet moments of shared walks and comforting cuddles, her companionship became an essential part of my journey, providing me with a sense of purpose and unconditional acceptance as I stepped into this new chapter of my life.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Boissy: One sunny day at the beach, Summer and I were filming a lighthearted reel inspired by a cute surfer cruising by. As we set up the shot, Summer decided to dart towards the cute surfer, zeroing in on his surfboard leash. Much to my horror but everyone else’s amusement, Summer playfully seized the leash and engaged in an impromptu game of tug-of-war. The surfer, equally amused, played along, creating an unexpected and hilarious scene that had everyone on the beach laughing. In that comical moment, Summer managed to steal the spotlight-as she tends to do, and turn a simple filming session into an unforgettable beachside escapade.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Boissy: The most rewarding aspect of being a dog influencer has been the unexpected sense of family and community that has blossomed along the way. Beyond the likes and comments, I've discovered a supportive network of fellow dog enthusiasts who share a genuine passion for our four-legged companions. It's heartening to connect with individuals who understand the joys and challenges of curating content centered around our furry friends. Through this unexpected journey, I've found a community that extends beyond the virtual realm, creating lasting connections and friendships that make the experience of being a dog influencer truly special.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Boissy: Our next exciting venture in our dog Instagram journey involves a shift towards creating content that goes beyond the fun and adorable, aiming to offer valuable advice for first-time dog owners and enthusiasts alike. We envision our account as a hub of insights and tips to enrich a dog's life, fostering a community where people can share their experiences and advice. Alongside this, we're looking to launch an Amazon storefront, curating a selection of our favorite enrichment toys and other beneficial dog supplies. This endeavor isn't just about capturing moments but also about building a resourceful platform that contributes to the well-being of our furry friends and strengthens the bond within the broader dog-loving community.
