Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Eastman: I initially embarked on a digital journey, capturing the heartwarming moments of my adventures with Carl, the canine comedian. From exploring dog-friendly spots in Chicago to spontaneous antics, Carl’s funny personality became the star of social media posts. What began as a way to include Carl in every outing, and sharing with friends and family quickly evolved into a delightful sharing experience, connecting our joy with a wider audience, eager to witness the charm of our furry companion.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Eastman: While many pages simply follow trends, our page takes a unique path by highlighting specific dog-friendly havens in Chicago, as well as introducing new and innovative products, toys, and treats. What truly sets it apart is the ability to find humor in everyday situations, capturing those one-of-a-kind moments that resonate with followers seeking a refreshing break from the ordinary pet content. One of our favorite moments that we’ve captured on film multiple times is Carl always finding a good bush, tree, building, or whatever to scratch his back on and then look up and smile at the camera. He’s just so goofy it’s hard not to smile at him. In essence, Carl's page is a blend of genuine exploration, product discovery, and a touch of humor that sets it apart in the vast world of dog-related social media.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Eastman: Our page is mostly a collection of spontaneous moments we share together. For every good photo or video I post, there’s probably 10 to 15 that need to be deleted.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Eastman: Encountering a few negative comments on social media can be perplexing, but I've learned to let them roll off. It's odd how some people get upset over posts meant to spread joy. Instead of dwelling on the handful of critics, I focus on the thousands who appreciate our content and find joy in Carl's antics. Their smiles outweigh the occasional negativity, reminding me why I love sharing our moments online.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Eastman: To any aspiring content creators thinking about starting a social media page for their pets, it's truly an amazing way to strengthen the bond with your furry companion and share your adventures with a wider audience. Beyond the likes and comments, it's about capturing those precious memories that will stay with you for a lifetime. The joy of documenting your pet's journey becomes a treasure trove of unforgettable moments that you and others can cherish.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Eastman: My dog, Carl, isn't just a pet; he's genuinely one of my best friends and a cherished member of our family. We prioritize pet-friendly activities to ensure he's a part of our experiences. Whether it's opting for a longer car ride over a quick flight, we prioritize his presence in every adventure. Recognizing the brevity of a dog's life, we're committed to not only maximizing our time with him but also ensuring that Carl lives the fulfilling life he deserves as an integral part of our family.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Eastman: Carl has become a local celebrity at the dog-friendly spots in our neighborhood. While most adore his quirky personality, he can be a bit of a diva. He's mastered the art of knowing exactly where treats are offered and confidently strolls in, expecting royal treatment. From slapping his paws on counters to demanding attention, he's not always the most patient or well-mannered, but it's all part of his hilariously charming personality that keeps everyone entertained.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Eastman: My favorite aspect of venturing into pet influencing isn't just sharing Carl's escapades, but also the incredible connections with fellow pet owners and enthusiasts. The bonds formed and the genuine connections we share in caring for our furry family members bring a unique joy to this online journey. It's heartwarming to be part of a community that celebrates the love and companionship we all cherish with our pets.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Eastman: As we approach summer in Chicago, the excitement is real. While we don't have specific plans for our next adventure, the season opens up a world of possibilities with numerous patios to explore and outdoor activities to enjoy. Our goal is to visit new places, soak up the summer vibes, and perhaps make some new friends along the way. Here's to the upcoming season of discoveries and shared moments in the vibrant Chicago summer!
