Today we got the honor of interviewing Daphne (Lilo's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Lin: It started off as a hobby because I loved dressing Lilo up and thought she was really cute. It made me so happy whenever I see her smile so I wanted to capture and share Lilo’s cute and silly moments with other dog lovers to hopefully make someone’s day or put a smile on their faces. While doing so, I started supporting many small businesses and found the dog community to be so nice and supportive which kept us motivated to do more!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Lin: Lilo has many silly moments especially when she makes her funny or “teeth” smiles which many of her followers love. Her personality is definitely one of a kind.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Lin: We started off our page to share all of Lilo’s adventures so that is usually how I come up with our posts and content. I love sharing Lilo in all her outfits and when we take her on adventures. For example, we are planning a hiking/cabin trip with her too which will also be super fun! Our content is mainly based on daily activities and adventures.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Lin: We currently have not experienced any negativity but we always show kindness and love to other pups in the community. We’re always spreading positivity!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Lin: Just be yourself and share your dog’s genuine self! I would say don’t try too hard and when it happens it happens! We’re big believers of everything happening for a reason so just live your life and share what you love to do with your pup. Also, a big thing about being a dog influencer is to be consistent and true to your followers. We only promote products that we love already so our followers know it’s because we really love the products.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Lin: Yes! Absolutely, she had definitely made my life so much happier and got me out going on adventures so much more. She also got me exercising so much more which makes me healthier as well. She has truly changed my life.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Lin: Once we took Lilo to the dog park to meet up with one of her Instagram besties and one dog was playing too rough so she held up one paw to tell him to stop/stay which was too cute and funny! I love how she picked that up from us telling her to stay or stop with our hand up. We took many photos and had a really fun time that day. A memorable moment we had recently is we walked around Savannah with wag wear crocs and everyone LOVED it. It made us so happy and excited to share where the shoes were from.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Lin: Honestly, our favorite part is sharing our adventures and seeing how much other dog owners/lovers love her content and is following along her journey. We love touching people’s hearts and bring joy to their lives. Also, the idea of sharing a product that could potentially help them (like the fi collar) or currently we share oxyfresh dental additives to help other dogs have healthy teeth makes us so happy.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Lin: Yes! We plan on taking her on many more trips and just share our lives with Lilo. We just want to spread joy and positivity to the community. We want her to live her life to the fullest and share that with everyone!
