Today we got the honor of interviewing Silvia (Vienna & Chai's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Deshon: I rescued Vienna in 2017, she was found chained up to the back of a van in PR. I knew I wanted to give her the best life so I started buying her the cutest outfits and she loved the camera. From there on we started working with some local brands and we currently work with big brands like Sassy Woof & Chewy. Got Chai last year and she followed her sister’s steps. They both live a great life and we want the IG world to know that all dogs deserve the best.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Deshon: Vienna is a diva, she knows exactly what to do in front of the camera and what she deserves after (all the treats). Vienna has an elegance to herself that is really hard to find. Chai is more witty, she’s more playful but enjoys copying her sister.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Deshon: I’m always checking if there’s a national holiday or special occasion for a month, products that we get definitely make me be creative on how to promote certain themes.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Deshon: Not really, the most is people commenting about dachshunds back issues if there’s a video or post of Vienna doing something not doxie friendly.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Deshon: Do it! Even if you don’t go viral you are spending time with your dog that is valuable and capturing special moments. It also opens the door to so many dog friendly communities and great people.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Deshon: They both changed my life, Vienna has been with me through the toughest times, she’s my soul mate. Chai came to our lives to add some adventure. I haven’t had an uneventful day since I got her lol.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Deshon: I’ve had many with Vienna, but the first shoot I did of both of them was so cute. Vienna was doing her best to keep it professional while Chai was biting her ears, bows, falling from the chair and all.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Deshon: The community and people I’ve met through the years.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Deshon: Now with two dogs the time is more limited, Vienna’s 11 YO and my main focus is to enjoy my time with her as much as possible.
