Today we got the honor of interviewing Kellyn (Chicken & Waffles's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.

Here is their story:

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?

Sanders: Dog dad always said we could get two dogs if we named them Chicken and Waffles and mom said "don't threaten me with a good time!" We got Waffles in August of 2020 after she picked us, by pulling mom's ponytail. It was that moment we knew we had to share our sassy little sticky lip Vizsla and bring some comedic relief during Covid struggles. Chicken followed in Fall of 2021 and only enhanced the giggles.

What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?

Sanders: I think our pups' infectiously funny personalities make people want to see more. There hasn't been a day, since bringing them home, that they haven't made mom and dad laugh. That is what makes it so fun to share their silly antics every day with our community.

How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?

Sanders: Most of the things they do would be unbelievable if mom didn't catch it on video. They usually make the content, mom just has the thumbs to post it. Our creative process usually starts with audio. Mom then either plans and films or finds a video from our 2TB Google Drive of just Chicken and Waffles content to match to the audio.

Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?

Sanders: We always try to keep our content light and positive. There have been some moments where some negativity has found us. We try to focus on the positive comments and the genuine community we've found that love our pups and ignore the negative ones!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?

Sanders: The number one thing we've said since day one is if this ever stops being fun or becomes a "job" to post then we will stop doing it. Be genuine, quality over quantity, and find a niche inside of your pet or breed! We use humor :)

How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?

Sanders: We have met so many special people through their Instagram and actually meet up with them in person! We've created such good bonds, some were even invited to mom and dad's wedding! We're so grateful for how much they get us out and about and active in our dog community.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?

Sanders: The first day we brought Waffles home we experienced what we call a "sticky lip" moment. Her lips were stuck on her teeth for a few minutes and we couldn't stop laughing. That is when we knew had such a personality and would pull our phones and cameras out whenever it would happen. It is her signature "sticky lip" look now. We even rate other pup's sticky lips on our stories.

What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?

Sanders: We love our community that has found us! We have met some really genuine people and companies through this whole process and are so grateful. It's so helpful to be able to ask someone else about their dog experience or recommendation and help others through their journey! We have had a great time every step of the way!

Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?

Sanders: We have a few things in the works, one we're particularly excited about is Waffles being turned into a plushie that should launch in February with Makeship! Be on the lookout for your own Vizsla that doesn't shed!
