Though we will miss the beach, we also can’t wait for the changing leaves and long hikes in the cool autumn weather. Fall also means lots of new activities to do with our dogs! Check out our favorites:

1. Go Apple Picking and Pumpkin Picking

No Fall season is complete without a trip to a pumpkin patch and an apple orchard! Apples and pumpkins are both completely safe for your dog to snack on and for all of you Instagram dogs - this is the perfect autumn photo-op! Just be sure to check ahead to make sure the farm is dog-friendly.

2. Jump into a Pile of Leaves!

Raking leaves may not be the most exciting chore, but watching your dog run full speed ahead toward the pile will make it totally worth it! Our suggestion is to toss a ball in the leaves as well as an extra challenge.

3. Dog Halloween Costume Content

Coordinate a costume contest for your dog and all of their buddies -  Each participant can donate an item and the winner gets a basket full of goodies! And don’t forget candy for the humans and treats for all the dogs!

4. Make Pumpkin Spice Dog Treats

Need we say more? It’s essential to have pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING this time of year! We love this recipe for pumpkin pupcakes or this classic peanut butter pumpkin dog treat recipe.

5. Go on More Hikes

Now that the weather is starting to cool down, you and your dog have even more opportunities to go for a nice long hike - no more early mornings to beat the heat. Plus who doesn’t love to see all the changing leaves?

6. Sniff Your Way Through a Corn Maze

Find a dog-friendly corn maze near you and let your dog lead the way - hopefully they’ll be able to sniff their way out! Sniffing exercises are one of the best ways to stimulate your dog’s brain, so this one is guaranteed to tire them out.

7. Carve a Pumpkin

While you’re at the pumpkin patch, be sure to pick up a larger pumpkin for yourself and a mini one for your dog. While you carve away, let your dog roll it around and chew it for a few minutes and… voila! A doggy masterpiece.
