Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Moore: Sedona is my first dog, and I started her Instagram before I even got her home. I’m a wedding photographer and I knew I’d be sharing lots about her so I decided to make an Instagram for her.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Moore: We’ve been pretty transparent on Sedona's Instagram. In regards to her training, partnerships, and how to take photos and I think that is initially what drew people in. Now a days Sedona's selfies have been poppin' off.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Moore: This is a tough question as I find inspiration comes in waves. Sometimes it’s from trends, and others times Sedona does something cute and I run with it. I also have a saved folder of inspiration that I have every time I see a cute post I can remake with Sedona in her own way.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Moore: Yes. Early on I found out how opinionated strangers can be about how you raise your dog, especially if a post goes viral and it exceeds your normal audience. I found the block/restrict tools very helpful with this. If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Moore: Create saveable content and use Consistency, Quality and Evoking Emotion to help you. As long as you create content with that in mind you’ll create a page with purpose. As for quality you don’t have to have the most expensive camera to get the content, you just have to provide some ounce of quality, even if it’s in the text educating your following.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Moore: I got Sedona a few weeks after moving to Australia and I can confidently say the community that came with her was the best part. 80% of all the friends I made in Australia was from Sedona's Instagram and fellow dog carers that loved their dog as much as I did. Not to mention I now have goals to do things I never thought I’d be able to do, like travel around Australia, fly back home to Canada , and now travel the states.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Moore: I never have been a confident long distance driver until I tried doing it with Sedona. I was going through a pretty emotional time and I was offered to stay with a friend who lived 20 hours away. This trip ended up being the most incredible growth I’ve had to date. Realizing I can do things on my own, and learning how much you can grow from being confident in yourself. Sedona gave me that confidence.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Moore: The fact that adventures include Sedona always. I’m surrounded by like minded dog lovers and I get to take photos and videos of my most important friend. Not to mention the incredible community that comes with it, alongside some crazy opportunities that allowed me to quit my full time job at a marketing agency. I also shot a few weddings because they found me through Sedona's Instagram.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Moore: We’ve just moved to Canada after a crazy 4 years in Australia and now we have plans to travel through the states and also around our provinces in Canada. This season is Sedona's first experience with snow and it’s been incredible.
