Today we got the honor of interviewing Victoria (Brooks's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Ireland: It all started with the idea of a digital scrapbook! We all know that feeling of nostalgia hitting when you stumble upon an old photo album at your parents' house. Phones are great, but they don't quite capture that same sense of flipping through physical memories. With Brooks, I wanted a way to easily revisit special moments and document his adventures in a fun way. So, his social media accounts were born!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Ireland: Forget those fancy tour guides – Brooks offers a unique "doggo perspective" on why Charleston deserves its #1 ranking by Travel & Leisure! Brooks has his own special kind of Southern Charm! He takes his followers on a one-of-a-kind tour on the daily, sniffing out hidden historical tidbits of the Holy City and showcasing our favorite dog-friendly spots. His fame even extends beyond social media platforms – he has a dedicated window perch where everyone from our neighbors and College of Charleston students to tourists on horse-drawn carriages stop by to give him some love and tell him what a good boy he is.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Ireland: The truth is, Brooks pretty much comes with me everywhere! Charleston is super dog friendly. It has turned out to be a recipe for premium content creation because, well, let's just say the guy's a walking goofball with quite the personality. Plus, Charleston has a ton to offer and work with!
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Ireland: One of the challenges with social media is being consistent with content posting, which is crucial for account growth. To make it easier during busy seasons, I spend time creating a bulk of videos and/or photos, then scheduling them out ahead of time! It's always fun to participate in trending videos and sprinkle those in too!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Ireland: Believe everyone when they say "just have fun with it". Truly.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Ireland: WAY more walkies...
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Ireland: I had a large order from Amazon last year and left the box out while I put some of the stuff away. Turns out, Brooks is part cat and loves squishing himself into boxes. Now, we have to save any decent sized boxes for a day or so. That way, Brooks can sit in said box.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Ireland: It's a great opportunity to meet some really awesome people, both virtually and locally. We met one of Brooks' besties, Lana5, through a local event, Celadon's Dog Days of Summer! Lana5 is the face of Anchor Pet Supply and literally the coolest dog ever.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Ireland: We tested out "Daily Charleston Fun Facts" for a couple of months and let's just say that we will be diving back into sharing our love for the Holy City soon!
