Today we got the honor of interviewing Selena (Daisy's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Lilley: It happened on accident! We started Daisy’s page to keep close family and friends updated on her new tricks and funny puppy antics. One early trick video went viral and her page took off from there! We also enjoy teaching her new tricks and doing skits with her, so it’s a fun family activity :)
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Lilley: When Daisy was tiny, she caught on really quickly to learning new tricks. Her followers loved seeing a tiny floofy puppy and following her learning process. As she’s gotten older, she has shown some funny quirks that are very relatable and entertaining to her followers.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Lilley: Daisy usually does at least one ridiculous thing each day that is “content worthy”. I also get ideas from our dog friends on social media and often will use a similar funny audio or trend that we see is viral right now.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Lilley: Like any other corner of the internet, there are always a few people who leave rude comments on our content. Occasionally I will answer a direct question if it seems helpful, but otherwise I just ignore the negativity.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Lilley: Have fun with it! Even the most random, simple clip can really connect with other people. Find what makes your dog special and share it with the world.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Lilley: Daisy has been the best addition to our little family. We definitely structure our day to accommodate her needs including walks, play time, etc. She is always doing something silly that makes us laugh, and we’ve even made some new human friends by connecting over our dogs. The best part is the unconditional love of a dog that can’t be matched.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Lilley: Daisy’s first time at the beach as a puppy was hilarious! She tried to copy her doggy friend and dig in the sand, but she couldn’t figure out how to dig, so she just pushed the sand around with her nose like a little seal. The older dogs were so confused, and the humans were highly entertained.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Lilley: I love connecting with other dog owners, both on the internet and in real life. It’s so nice to share stories, swap doggy advice, and make new lifelong friends.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Lilley: We might have a few fun things coming up in 2024… but we can’t spoil the surprise! Most of all we will continue to document Daisy’s daily antics and connect with our fellow dog community.
