Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Alberta: I started sharing photos on social media as a way to document my memories & adventures with Koda. I never expected it to become so much more - but I've made so many friendships through Instagram, built relationships with our favorite brands, and explored photography further.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Alberta: I think we set ourselves apart by just being unapologetically ourselves. I also don't just share the positives - dog parenting is so fulfilling and rewarding, but it can also be frustrating. I like to share both sides because it's the reality of day-to-day life.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Alberta: I usually let the adventure/Koda dictate the photos! I'm often inspired by her, new gear, or the scenery around us. Most of the time I choose the photos before the captions. I also love to create content that's for a specific holiday or theme.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Alberta: Absolutely! I think particularly with canine feeding & training - everyone has different opinions on what is "right" and people can be pretty judgmental online. I am a big believer of feed/train the dog in front of you.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Alberta: Just be you! There is space on social media for everyone to be their authentic selves. It also helps you find your style/niche, and connect with people who share similar interests.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Alberta: Wow I don't even know where to begin! Koda has taught me patience, responsibility, and showed me unconditional love. I've learned so much about feeding, training, and building bonds from her alone. She also encourages me to step outside of my comfort zones.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Alberta: Koda likes to pose for photos - I swear! If I pull the camera out, she immediately poses and almost refuses to move until I take the photo. She must have figured out that she gets rewarded for it - because she LOVES it. I always giggle when she sits there waiting for the photo. Recently, she's been doing her rest cue (head down on her front paws while she looks up at you) without me even saying anything.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Alberta: The community! I can't say it enough. I wouldn't have learned so many things, been inspired, made so many friends, worked with so many businesses, etc. if it weren't for the dog Instagram community. I have more virtual friends across the country than real-life friends!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Alberta: We're just hoping to keep growing - both our account and our network/community! I'm excited to keep learning more about photography and see what else we can come up with!
