Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
C:Milo is the best thing that has happened to me in my life. He has inspired me to build my own photography business as well as motivated me to step out of my comfort zone. I want to collect our happy moments together. Instagram is a wonderful channel to accomplish that and connects us with many great dog communities. We have met many dogs in real life because of our Instagram connections. I am glad that Milo is an influencer, but I truly shoot as how Milo wishes to be captured. I have never taken him to places where he doesn't want to go for the sake of being in an "Instagram spot," nor have I made him pose unnaturally for the sake of "getting more likes."
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
C:Milo is simply HAPPY. He is happy on Instagram, and he is happy in real life. We have received so many comments made by others on Instagram as well as in real life on what a happy dog he is. I believe Milo's passion for life and joy of off leash running/playing/wrestling with his friends at Central Park do make a lot people smile. I am grateful for that.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
C: Actually, I do not. I only post when I feel the moment needs to be treasured and shared. I do not believe in "hard selling." Basically, I do not post for the sake of Instagram. Instagram is just a useful tool in my life.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
C: I have not! Why? Maybe I am lucky? Or maybe I simply do not follow "trends." I post as I want & as Milo wants. Additionally, I am extremely respectful of Instagram rules, and I do not get into politics nor controversial topics. It is a dog account after all. Its goal is to make people happy. It is an escape from our daily life, and it should not be a platform where people feel stressed out or agitated.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
C: Be yourself! Of course, there are many extremely successful influencers who are the first ones to jump into trends, Instagram spots, and only post 100% perfect photos/reels. I congratulate them for their success. However, it's just not my style. I would rather focus on my dog and his adventures. To me, Instagram is a great tool, but it will never run my life. I always keep in mind that a dog with 5 followers can be as happy as a dog with 5 million followers. My dog's happiness > everything else in my life.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
C: 1) He has made me realize what love is. Before him, I had never imagined I would love each moment of cleaning up diarrhea & puke. Now I always think one day inevitably I won't have his diarrhea & puke to clean up anymore, so no matter what we do, I love each moment of it. 2) He has showed me it is possible to enjoy anything anywhere as long as you are with your best friend. Walking through mud at Central Park after a rainstorm with Milo > walking on the most beautiful beach with anyone else. 3) He has changed my lifestyle from a night person to a morning person as well as made me a much more physically active & fit human being. 4) He has taught me to always enjoy the moment and make the best out of everything.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
C: I was trying to do a client photoshoot. The goal was to shoot the dog as the dog was showing off his agility skills. The dog's agility skills were perfect, but the dog was not interested in modeling. No matter how I tried, the dog simply did not face the camera. I had tried moving around, yet, the dog's face looked miserable! It was Central Park off leash time. Milo watched and simply did one of his natural "flying" over the fence stunts. Not only did it turn out to be one of my best shoots but also the actual client dog was inspired and mimicked Milo soon after. (Funny part: Milo enjoyed the tourist crowd's cheering so much when he flew over, he continued to fly over several times.... I literally had to out him on leash for him to stop showing off so that I could finish the client shoot and not to make the client feel unimportant...)
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
C:The dog friends we make! We have met many in real life because of that. Also, for the ones we have not met, we always exchange Christmas cards and chat regularly.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
C: We are going to keep being us. One thing I may try is to travel a little more. Now that Milo is slightly calmer than before, it may be interesting to see how he likes some easy travels.
