Today we got the honor of interviewing Hannah (Hudson's Human). You can find a direct link to their Instagram here.
Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Huber: I initially started posting videos of Hudson to document his puppyhood. I loved sharing clips that really showed his personality, and then adding my own flare to them. I had one mini viral video, and after that, I started making videos for an audience, and not just friends and family!
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Huber: I think a lot of dogs on social media portray this "perfect" lifestyle. I'd like to think that Hudson's account is a little more relatable, messy, and realistic than what you see in the typical dog influencer on social media.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Huber: A lot of my idea's for Hudson's videos are inspired by his personality. He has so many little quirks, and does so many goofy things, I love to capture it and really play off of it.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Huber: There have been several occasions where I've received negativity in the comments of my posts, and even in my DMs. In the heat of the moment, it's hard not to respond with your real feelings, but it's important to remember that these people are completely IRRELEVANT!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Huber: I think the best advice I can give to someone starting their dog's social media journey would be to be consistent. It can be discouraging when your views are down, or you spend so long on a video and it gets no traction. Don't delete videos! Sometimes a post won't take off until several weeks later. Don't get discouraged if it takes a while to find your niche and your audience.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Huber: Hudson has taught me patience, resilience, how to make light of a serious situation, and much more. He is my entire world, and our social media only shows a small part of that.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Huber: There are some moments when Hudson just absolutely refuses to cooperate with a video. I feel like he's looking at me with these big eyes that are just begging, "can we just play ball instead?!" It makes me feel like a momfluencer who is forcing their toddler to be on camera!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Huber: I love that I get to look back and have a plethora of videos from all stages of Hudson's life. Almost everyone will have pictures of their dog's life, but I have SO MANY videos.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Huber: Hudson and I like to keep our social media presence fairly casual, but we do have a few exiting projects in the works. For example, we're working on putting together a small giveaway for our followers sometime in March!
