Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Stuart: In 2020, after getting my 8 week old beagle, I wanted to start a blog dedicated to their funny quirks and how to survive life with them. I soon realized that short-form video was the perfect way to capture their vibrant personalities. I was already working in social media at the time so it was an easy and natural shift.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Stuart: I think what makes my dogs stand out on social media is their funny and relatable personalities. Just showcasing them authentically has been the biggest source of engagement with my audience. My dogs remind them of their dogs and that brings them joy and creates a connection between us. I get so many comments saying "I thought my dog was the only one who did that!"
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Stuart: The content creation process for my dog's posts is a mix between observation and trends. I often find inspiration in our daily activities and my dog's natural behaviors, which make for authentic and relatable content. I'm home with my dog's all day but I'm constantly surprised by what they do. They're so naturally funny without even trying. Staying on top of trends in the dog influencer community is also important because it's a sure fire way to make shareable content and reach more of our target audience. I'm always experimenting with new ideas and formats to keep our content fresh and engaging.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Stuart: Yes, definitely! When you're posting on social media, unfortunately, there are always going to be people with something negative to say. My approach to handling these comments is typically humorous. I find it's a good way to diffuse tension. I want my community to be one that focuses on positivity, humor and unconditional love. Much like our dogs give us.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Stuart: My best advice to give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account is to just start. Getting started is the hardest part. Don't overthink it. While there isn't a magic formula to gaining followers, you want to stay authentic, post relatable and easy to digest content. Focus on building a community of like minded dog people and you'll be surprised at how fast you grow!
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Stuart: Milo and Melody have profoundly influenced my life beyond social media. They're both emotional support animals for my husband and I and they do a darn good job at it! They're a constant source of joy and companionship. The unconditional love they give teaches me daily about patience and enjoying the little moments in life. Socially, they have opened doors for us in new communities. I've connected with other dog owners and pet parents and been able to build new friendships.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Stuart: When Milo was about a year and a half old, we took him for a walk in the local park. It's a great spot with lots of trees, tall grass, and ponds – perfect for animals to hang out. That day, there were loads of them around. Milo, being a Beagle and all, was super interested in every smell. He found a scent and started following it with his nose down and tail up.
He spotted some ducks in a pond and began making this loud, high-pitched noise – it's something Beagles do when they're excited, but it can sound pretty intense. Not quite a bay but more of a scream. We tried our best to pull him away and quiet him down.
While we were doing this, some ladies who were walking in the park came over. They looked worried and said they thought they heard a dog in trouble. We had to explain that Milo was okay, just being a typical Beagle. They were nice about it, but we were a bit embarrassed by all the fuss he made!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Stuart: I am a dog person through and through so my favorite thing about being a dog influencer is engaging with the community I've built. I love hearing about other people's pups and their quirks. I get so many messages from people saying that our dog's are so alike, our dog's could be twins and they've never seen a dog that looks and acts so much like theirs. I love sharing this part of my life with others. It's incredibly fulfilling to see comments from followers saying how our posts brightened their day or helped them in some way.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Stuart: This year, I'm really looking forward to continuing to grow and reach more dog lovers with my content! I'm also branching out into collaborating with a few brands that align with our values, which is something we're really excited about. These partnerships will allow us to bring some new and interesting content to our followers. On a personal note, my goal is to really fine-tune a content style that's uniquely ours. I plan to do this by experimenting with different types of posts and formats to see what truly clicks with my audience.
