Here is their story:
Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Henry:After getting married, my husband and I moved to Michigan for a job opportunity. I was 6 hours away from friends and family and this was also during the Pandemic. I found myself incredibly lonely and that's when we brought my first dog, Lacy home. She truly gave me so much comfort and companionship. She became my little shadow. Fast forward 2 years later, Maverick joined our family. I began taking pictures, videos, and baking my own homemade dog treats. I decided to start a blog all about being a dog mom. Then the Instagram page started and it just went from there.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Henry:Well first, we have our blog, thedogdarling.com which sets us apart from many other dog accounts on social media. I also make content on DIY dog treat recipes, enrichment activities, and relatable dog mom content. Our brand focuses on the bond between a girl and her dogs.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Henry: My creative process is twofold. I keep a content calendar with blog post ideas and reels/posts I want to make on Trello. But, there's a more spontaneous side where I post whatever funny or relatable thing my dogs did that day. This way, I stay organized while also being able to capture the best candid moments.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Henry: Negativity is one of the challenges that comes along with being on the internet. I try not to take anything too personally and remind myself that their opinion of me is none of my business. I try to focus on the wonderful dog mom community and the good that it brings.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Henry: First of all, have fun with it. Make sure it's something you love doing and you're not just doing it because you think everyone else is. Also, stay consistent with posting content and remember to engage with your community. That's the best part about sharing your adventures on social media. Don't overthink it, just start posting and you will learn as you go.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Henry: Lacy and Maverick are my best little buds. I love coming home to their wagging tails and happy greetings. They add so much joy to my life.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Henry: My dogs have the hardest time sitting still. It's the "Australian Shepherd" in them. They always have to have a "job" to do. This makes every photoshoot an interesting...and exhausting time.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Henry: My favorite thing is getting to connect with the community. I love being able to talk to other dog moms and obsess about every cute thing our dogs do.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Henry: I want to keep creating funny and helpful content. We plan to keep sharing our adventures, growing, and making new friends.
