Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Zoe’s Mum: Our journey to becoming a dog influencer is deeply intertwined with our personal story. My partner and I were in a long-distance relationship from September 2019 to November 2023, navigating the challenges of being apart during the COVID-19 pandemic without meeting physically. As we looked forward to finally being together, we wanted to mark this new chapter in our lives in a special way. The idea of getting a pet came to us as the perfect symbol of our union. While exploring our options, we came across an upcoming litter of Samoyeds and immediately felt a connection. After researching the breed, we knew a Samoyed would be the perfect addition to our family. We eagerly signed up for one of the puppies and fell in love with Zoe even before she was born, captivated by her baby pictures. Her adorable pink nose with black spots made her stand out, and she captured our hearts instantly. When we finally met Zoe, it was love at first sight. It felt like she had always been a part of our lives. Every little thing she did brought us immense joy and countless smiles. We wanted to share this happiness with the world, so we started an Instagram account to document her adventures. The response was overwhelming—people fell in love with Zoe just as we had. As we continued to share her daily antics, we discovered wonderful brands and opportunities to collaborate. This encouraged us to take Zoe’s account to the next level, reaching out to brands and signing up for ambassador programs. Sharing Zoe’s journey has not only brought us closer together but has also connected us with a community that loves her as much as we do.
What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Zoe’s Mum: Zoe is truly one-of-a-kind, and it’s not just because of her stunning appearance. Born on November 27, 2023, she’s just over six months old, yet she’s already captured so many hearts with her unique charm and vibrant personality. Her breed, the Samoyed, naturally draws people in with their fluffy white coats and that iconic "Sammy smile" that seems to light up every photo. Zoe’s magical looks and radiant smile are undeniably captivating and often the first thing that catches people’s eyes. But what really makes Zoe special is the big personality behind those gorgeous looks. She’s an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore and discover new things. Whether she’s bounding through a park or sniffing out new scents, her curiosity and zest for life are infectious. One of her most endearing quirks is her passion for digging. We affectionately call her our little "dirt goblin" because she loves digging near tree barks, as if she’s on a mission to uproot all the trees in the world. Despite her playful and sometimes mischievous nature, Zoe is also remarkably intelligent for her age. She learns quickly and approaches every new experience with enthusiasm and curiosity. It’s this combination of beauty, intelligence, and boundless energy that makes her so unique. Every moment with Zoe feels special, and sharing her adventures on Instagram has allowed us to connect with so many wonderful people who appreciate her just as much as we do. Our followers love seeing Zoe’s daily antics, her playful spirit, and that enchanting smile that never fails to brighten up their day. Zoe isn’t just a dog on social media; she’s a beloved member of our family, a dirt-digging adventurer, and a source of joy and inspiration to everyone who follows her journey.
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Zoe’s Mum: Our approach to creating content for Zoe is a blend of spontaneous joy and thoughtful planning. We truly want to capture her day-to-day adventures because she’s living her best life, and we’re just the lucky ones getting to watch and share it. If Zoe does something hilarious or we snap a particularly beautiful photo, we love to share those moments in real-time. Her natural antics and spontaneous charm are what our followers love the most. At the same time, we do put some thought into our posts, especially when there’s a special occasion or a brand launch. For example, if a brand we adore is releasing a new accessory, we’ll plan a photoshoot to highlight it in a way that feels genuine and fun. We want to celebrate these moments while still keeping Zoe’s personality at the forefront. Ultimately, our goal is to share the joy Zoe brings into our lives. Whether it’s a candid shot of her being the little "dirt goblin" she is, trying to uproot trees with her playful digging, or a beautifully staged photo to commemorate a brand collaboration, every post reflects her vibrant and loving spirit.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Zoe’s Mum: We’re still relatively new to Instagram, and with Zoe being so young, we haven’t faced many difficulties yet. However, one early experience does come to mind. One of our early reels, an engagement post, went viral. The concept was simple: comment the word “grow”, follow those who like your comment. It wasn’t a follow-for-follow scheme, but some people misunderstood and got upset when others didn’t follow them back. To manage the situation, we used the delete button to remove negative comments. We wanted to maintain a positive atmosphere and avoid any harassment or negativity. The post was meant to be positive and encouraging, and we wanted to keep it that way. We’re committed to fostering a supportive and positive community around Zoe’s adventures, and we believe that handling negativity promptly and calmly is key to achieving that.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Zoe’s Mum: Starting a dog influencer account has been a truly fulfilling journey for us. If you’re thinking about sharing your dog on social media, my advice is to embrace the experience with genuine passion and joy. First and foremost, have fun and let your dog’s unique personality shine through. Share moments that truly reflect their spirit and bring you happiness. Authenticity resonates deeply with people, so stay true to yourself and your furry companion. Engagement is everything. Take the time to connect with your audience—reply to comments, ask questions, and celebrate the community that forms around your dog. These interactions create bonds that go beyond numbers and metrics. Lastly, cherish the connections you make along the way. Whether it’s with other pet owners, brands, or followers, these relationships are incredibly valuable. They enrich your journey and open doors to new opportunities and experiences. Above all, remember that sharing your dog on social media is about spreading joy and creating meaningful connections. Treasure each moment, celebrate the little victories, and embrace the friendships that grow from your shared love of furbabies.
How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Zoe’s Mum: Zoe has profoundly impacted my life beyond the realm of social media, especially since I moved to live with my boyfriend in a new country where I don't speak the language. Leaving behind my family and my cherished dream job at a women's charity was an immensely difficult decision, but Zoe has been my guiding light through it all. Her presence has been a lifeline for my mental health. Amidst the uncertainties and sacrifices, Zoe motivates me every day. She reminds me of the importance of self-care and staying grounded. How can I properly care for her if I neglect myself? Zoe has become my reason to rise with the morning sun, to stay steadfast in daily routines, and to rediscover joy in the mundane. Living with Zoe has pulled me away from potential spirals and given me purpose during times of doubt. Her unconditional love and boundless energy are constant sources of warmth and motivation in my life. She has not only filled our home with laughter and companionship but has also filled my heart with resilience and strength. Zoe's presence is a reminder that even amidst change and challenges, there is always room for love and growth. She has transformed my journey in ways I could have never imagined, teaching me to embrace each moment with gratitude and courage.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or funny moment you've had with your dog during one of your photo shoots or adventures?
Zoe’s Mum: It’s hard to pinpoint just one moment because every day with Zoe is filled with laughter and joy. One of the most memorable and amusing moments recently happened during our summer adventures. Zoe has developed a hilarious rivalry with bees—they’re her greatest enemies! Whenever a bee buzzes by, Zoe springs into action with a playful hop, nose-first into the grass, trying her best to catch one. It’s adorable to watch her determination, even though all her attempts so far have been unsuccessful. She’s definitely keeping the bees on their toes! These moments remind me of Zoe’s playful spirit and her endless curiosity about the world around her. They’re not just funny memories but also a reminder of the simple pleasures and boundless happiness she brings into our lives every day.
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Zoe’s Mum: My favorite thing about being a dog influencer is the joy of sharing Zoe with the world and connecting with other dog pawrents. Zoe is not just a pet but a beloved family member, and being able to share her adventures, quirks, and playful personality brings me immense happiness. Through our journey on social media, I’ve had the privilege of bonding with fellow dog enthusiasts who share the same love and passion for their furry companions. It’s incredibly rewarding to exchange stories, tips, and laughs with a community that understands the unique bond between humans and dogs. Being a dog influencer has not only allowed me to document Zoe’s growth and milestones but also to celebrate the everyday moments that make life with her so special. From heartwarming messages to shared laughter over her antics, every interaction reminds me of the joy and love that our furbabies bring into our lives.
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Zoe’s Mum: We’re diving into some exciting new ventures! Recently, I’ve developed a passion for crafting resin dog tags, and it’s quickly becoming a creative hobby. I’m considering using Zoe as a model to potentially showcase these unique tags, and I’m exploring the possibility of turning this hobby into a business opportunity. Continuing to share Zoe’s adventures will always be the heart of our social media journey. However, I’m also excited about exploring this new avenue and seeing where it leads us. Stay tuned for more updates and perhaps even some sneak peeks of our resin creations featuring Zoe on her Instagram. We’re thrilled to embark on this next chapter with our amazing followers!
