Here is Manchas' story:
Fi: Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Manchas' Human: Originally, I wanted to create a separate account for Manchas so that I wouldn't be 'that person' posting pictures of their dog all the time. I wanted to share her cuteness but not have her take over my own personal accounts, if that makes sense. As I kept posting on her account, I realized how big the dog community is, especially on Instagram. I was hooked!
I don't consider us to be 'big influencers' or anything like that, but it's super cool when we go places and people recognize her, especially at local stores. It's also pushed me to attend more dog events and get out more. We've been to dog bowls and parties, fundraising events, costume contests, and tried a lot of new products. I have met so many people and their dogs that I wouldn't have met if it wasn't because of Manchas and her social media accounts. It keeps her busy, entertained, and socialized.
Fi: What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Manchas' Human: We keep it simple. We only share products that we absolutely use, have tried, and love. We focus on more lifestyle posts rather than super staged ones. I also try to have a good variety of different things for different audiences. It could be cute bandanas, harnesses, outerwear, food and treats, health care, or fun/silly pictures. I don't want to force her to do things she doesn't want to do, so we keep it fun.
I also try my best to support local, women-owned, and small businesses by going to local events. We're very active on social media, interacting with other accounts and posts, responding to comments and questions, resharing local events and businesses. It's all about building a community and sharing my love for my pup.
Fi: How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Manchas' Human: You know... I wish I was more organized and had things already scheduled ahead of time, but I kinda go with the flow for the most part. We pay attention to national holidays and post things that maybe are related to those, but also just kinda think of ideas in the moment.
Fi: Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Manchas' Human: We have not, I am thankful for that. All of our followers have been so loving and supportive. Love our little community!
Fi: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Manchas' Human: Go for it! I am not gonna lie, I feel like I've become my dog. She is my whole personality these days, but it is so much fun! They deserve all the love and all the attention. Keep it fun and give them the best life!
Fi: How has your dog influenced your life outside of social media?
Manchas' Human: Manchas has truly forced me to be more out there! To look forward to good weather and go on more outdoor adventures, to be more social, more patient.
Fi: What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Manchas' Human: Sharing our every day lives with everybody. Documenting all the memories and being able to look back on those later on in life!
Fi: Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Manchas' Human: We just got selected to be ambassador for a local brand for the spring/summer, so that's going to be super fun. We also have a few weekend getaways coming up. Excited to be able to bring Manchas on those road trips!
