Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a dog influencer? What inspired you to start sharing your dog's adventures on social media?
Theodore's Human: Growing up with dogs I have millions of memories with my childhood pets I wish I was able to reminisce on outside of my own memory. Once I got Theodore, I wanted to share every moment of his journey through life. This way I can relive through all his stages in life.
Fi: What do you think sets your dog apart from other dogs on social media? What makes them unique or particularly interesting to your followers?
Theodore's Human: Theodore has a lot of personality. He is a silly, loving, dog who wants to make everyone around him happy. He definitely acts up for the camera to make us laugh. I think having such a goofy dog makes him more interesting than just a pretty boy (although he is definitely both)!
How do you come up with ideas for your dog's posts and content? Do you have a specific creative process?
Theodore's Human: I use my peers for inspiration along with real life experiences. Using different platforms such as Tiktok or Instagram allows me to find other creators with similar styles and interests, allowing the creative juices to flow! It helps having a pup who is super active. Not a day goes by without us getting into something.
Have you ever faced any challenges or negativity on social media, and how have you dealt with it?
Theodore's Human: Yes, I have. One of our videos on Tiktok went “viral” and I received a lot of loving comments and a lot of hateful ones. People told me the nastiest things. I never realized how cruel people could be from behind a screen. It’s taught me to let the negativity flow and allow positivity to enter. If you ignore the nasty things people say on the internet, it won’t go away but it will subside. Not allowing these instigators to be fueled by attention shuts them down. Just be nice to others.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own dog influencer account or share their dog on social media?
Theodore's Human: Just keep posting! Make it fun for yourself. Don’t allow social media to feel like work right off the bat. You should enjoy it and allow yourself the spare time to do it. Give yourself the freedom to create and do not limit yourself to things such as the best times to post or the perfect captions. Explore different aesthetics and have fun!
What is your favorite thing about being a dog influencer?
Theodore's Human: I love being able to share our life. Having all of these tangible memories of Theodore warms my heart. I know that as he grows, I will be able to reflect on all his life stages and reminisce. I also enjoy all the friends I have made! Everyone is so kind on this side of social media!
Lastly, what's next for you and your dog on social media? Any exciting plans or projects in the works?
Theodore's Human: Up next Theodore will continue to do Theodore things. Lots of fun reels, TikTok’s, and Instagram posts with a few different collaborations from brands we love! We will continue to post our life and see where it takes us:)
